OK first things first….
One thing you should know, if you happen to just assume because we are photographers, this podcast isn’t about photography. It’s not a 101 guide about starting your photography business. We never say it is, but just because we are photographers some have arrived here hoping that’s what it is- and it isn’t. On occasion, like in this podcast, we do talk about photography. But again, it’s not a “10 steps to starting your wedding photography business” podcast. This is just two gals who together have over 30+years experience in photography, but also together have 60+ years experience in life and we are talking about all the things in life we think are important; but NOT at a surface level. We are digging deep. We are talking about the real shit. And you can’t talk about the real stuff without getting a little messy, so if you like it clean and fluffy; keep moving! If you want some substance and realness, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy!
In this episode, we get real about photography! And the importance of photographs!
We talk about our personal experiences with photography, why you should get your photo taken and how we both apparently want to photograph each other.
We talk about the photoshoots we’ve been a part of, both in front and behind the camera.
We talk about posting online versus keeping things private, and how we feel about the line between them both. We talk about how we see people in photos, and how we’ve understood what photography does to your feelings about your self. We talk about how photographers arent magicians, and how the people in front of the camera can completely control all the photographs.
We talk about a couple that we both have worked with (although Scarlet worked with only one part of the couple… Elisabetta who owns shop Bread & Circus an amazing jewelry company!) and we talk about how much we both felt the most inspired working with her because she was the kind of person who let others create and do what they do, which is when the real magic happens!
Jessy asks Scarlet about her favourite couple which leads to Scarlet going down the rabbit hole to shate the music video that couple is a part of. You can find that here. It’s the Dragonette Music Video with Alex & Miles, a couple she’s worked with time and time again and just adores.
And that’s about it!
Hope you enjoy. xo Scarlet & Jessy
