Season 2 is coming!
We had so much fun in Season 1, we've decided to do it again! We have a jam-packed year coming up and want to tell you everything you can expect in 2025!
*Spoiler alert* You WON'T want to miss it.
Follow us on IG @thatwasweirdpod for more information, Season 2 release dates, and to help us determine which topics we'll cover this year!
Every holiday has its traditions, but December seems to carry the most weight.
Traditions are tricky because they often carry a lot of weight for people. It's easy to become nostalgic for what was and attach tremendous meaning to traditions to keep the past alive.
While traditions aren't inherently bad, they can be harmful to our mental health if we participate in them to fill a gap or void.
In this episode, Jason and Rachel chat about our experiences with traditions from our childhoods and how we navigate the holidays today.
Special Note: We're happy to announce that Jae is now the official co-host of TWWP, so let's all give him a warm welcome!
You are either in therapy or you're not. Some might argue that they do not need extra mental health support, but I would say, "Yes you do."
The holidays are officially upon us, meaning we will all be subject to emotions. Sometimes emotions are welcome this time of year because they are joyful. But many of us will experience stress, anxiety, depression, or grief - and those emotions aren't as welcome.
What do you do when you're in a full panic, or can't dig yourself out of a hole, or feel like your grief is suffocating you? I hope you can call your therapist.
Whether you wish your therapist was your best friend, or you're still in search of the perfect clinician, or you've convinced yourself that your emotions are on lock and have it all figured out without the help of a mental health professional, this episode will hopefully open your mind to the wonderful (and weird) world of talk therapy.

*Introducing: The Holiday Series*
Has it been a week or has it been a week? It's November 2024 and we just experienced a doozy of an election season. Now we're heading into the holidays and some of us may be... freaking out.
Over the next month or so, we'll be tackling mental health and talking about some of the most common struggles we might face during the holidays.
Anxiety is first on the list as it's one of the most common mental health struggles - 19.1% of the US population is clinically diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, and those are just the cases that are recorded.
Please reach out to loved ones or a professional if you feel like you're having a mental health crisis. You can also dial 1-800-950-6264 or text "helpline" to 62640.

You know that thing where you remember something one way, but it turns out you're totally wrong? That's the Mandela Effect, and it's fascinating. This week, we're talking about all the things we remember that never happened, like the movie Shazaam starring Sinbad, and why everyone seems to remember Berenstain Bears with an "e" instead of an "a."
What other Mandela Effects are out there? I know there's a lot of them. Join us on the show this week to reminisce about all the things we remember wrong.
Do you remember the world the way it really is or are you just remembering it the way it is in your dreams?
Have you found yourself running to the store because you forgot that it was the 2nd Sunday in May (otherwise known as Mother's Day) and you didn't get something for the mother figure in your life? Have you ever wondered why Father's Day is the 3rd Sunday in June? Has your sister honored you properly on National Siblings Day?
There are Federal Holidays and then there are Hallmark Holidays and we're going to spend 25+ minutes on the pod exploring the origins of these 'fake' holidays and try to figure out why we celebrate them.
Disneybounding, vinylmations, popcorn buckets, Loungeflys, spirit jerseys, Dapper Days, Social Clubs, pin trading - if this sounds like a foreign language to you then I assure you that by the end of this episode you'll be slightly less confused.
That's right, we're talking about everyone's favorite adult to make fun of - the Disney Adult! There is no shame here though because you'll quickly realize that, turns out, your host is one!
Also, this episode has a special surprise so it's worth a listen.
Grab your mickey ears, throw on a spirit jersey, and buckle up for 55 minutes of Disney Adult bliss.
It's March 10th, 2024 and you've just woken up at 2am. You're confused because you thought your clock just said 1am but now it says 3am. "How can this be?" you ask yourself, "Did I just transport through time?!"
No, in fact, your phone is just participating in a time-honored tradition called Daylight Saving Time (NOT savings, which we'll get into later).
For some, DST is a welcome disruption, promising longer daylight hours and less time to sit in the darkness wondering whether you're on the right path or not. For others, DST is the bain of their existence.
No matter which camp you fall into, one thing is for certain, we all must participate whether we want to or not. Let's learn about DST, try to figure out why we do it, and settle the debate once and for all - should we observe DST or not?
Taylor Swift. Reality TV. Usher's Comeback.
No, we aren't just talking about a millenial's perfect Friday night. All of these topics and more can be found during America's favorite past time - the Super Bowl. Whether you're a raging football fan, or a fan of the half time show and greasy food - you most likely participate in the Big Game.
Grab a bag of Doritos, throw on that red jersey and buckle up because today, we're talking about the Super Bowl!
When you want to escape to a tropical oasis but you happen to be stuck in a metropolitan city, you might find yourself searching Google for the nearest Tiki Bar.
Tiki Bars transport you into a world of tiki thatch and sugary drinks, but you might be surprised to find out that the origins of these establishments aren't so tropical. You might even be more surprised to find that they have a bit of a troubled past.
In episode three, we'll learn about the Godfather of Tiki and find out if he's from the Caribbean or Limestone County, Texas and may even find out the secret of the Mai Tai, too!
