That You May Know Him

While many opinions exist about the Book of Revelation, there is no question that, despite the opinions of many, it is applicable to every Christian who has lived since the first century. In today's episode,  Blake conducts a wide-ranging discussion on Revelation with his good friend, Andrew Hodges. Andrew is a seminary graduate who has written and taught extensively on the book. In today's episode, we bring you our final installment of Israel and the Church. Paul concludes his discussion on Israel's future by introducing the ultimate analogy for understanding how Israel and the Church relate to one another. He does this while continuing to uphold the three central convictions he's already introduced to his reader:

• Israel, the nation, is God's chosen, covenant people; they have not been replaced
  
  
• While the nation of Israel is elect, not every Jew will be saved
  
  
• Salvation has always been accomplished through the faith of individuals - this has always been the case 

As a part of this discussion, Paul makes several statements that inform our understanding of what it is to be "saved," and we take ample to unpack them. Finally, Paul concludes his conversation on Israel and the Church by relaying God's plan to save "all of Israel," and then victoriously declares one of the most magnificent doxologies in Scripture: "Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!"

In one of our most important episodes to date, Israel and the Church, Part 2, we dive into Romans chapter 9. Romans 9-11 is one of the most widely misunderstood passages in all of Scripture. Many people assume that Paul's discussion on the election of the nation Israel simultaneously speaks toward the sovereign election of individuals for salvation. The result is that many Christians believe that God predestines people for hell before they're ever born. That is not what Romans 9 teaches.

In today's episode, we walk verse-by-verse through Romans chapter nine, showing how every word, example, and reference within Paul's argument is pointing toward his ultimate point: God has chosen to save those who believe, regardless of their ethnic origins.

Today's episode is part 2 of our ongoing series, Israel and the Church. In next week's episode, we will continue working through Romans 10-11 so that our listeners can fully grasp the magnitude of Paul's explanation in answering the question: does Israel have a future?
