Abandoned at the hospital immediately after her premature birth, Lilia spent her first three years within its walls before being transferred to an orphanage in the village of Cupcini, Moldova during the time of the Soviet Union.
This former military compound, home to approximately 800 children aged between three and sixteen, became her new reality until her adoption at 15, when she learned of her biological parents' supposed deaths.
Lilia’s early years were marked by poor nutrition, medical complications, and delayed physical development, leading to frequent hospital stays. Her experiences growing up in and orphanage resulted in abuse, trauma, and feeling of being wanted.
Although exposed to Christianity in her teen years, it wasn’t until her early 20s that Lilia fully embraced her faith, being baptized and becoming a Christian. This pivotal moment ignited her aspiration to share her story through writing.
