Ten minutes went by super quick, so after we finished recording I still had a few questions left for Beth such as advice for college students today and if she would've done anything differently in her college days. Her advice for students today was to become comfortable with being vulnerable in the electronic world. She emphasized the importance of becoming familiar with Zoom and not being afraid to admit when you don't know something. Asking questions does not show weakness, it shows the willingness to learn and it is important to employers that their new hires are determined to excel in their position. When I asked Beth if she would've done anything differently during her college days to prepare better for the world after school, she responded with a quick no. Believing everything happens for a reason and every action you take has a consequence - good, bad, or indifferent. Another point she stressed was decisiveness. Every day you are one decision away from a completely new life, but don't be afraid to make tough decisions as changes can always be made down the road. She gave us two really great quotes at the end and they were, "Leap and the net will appear," and "Analysis paralysis is what will cost you in the long run."
