In this episode of Take 10, Jonathan and Laurie start where any answer has to start: the Bible alone is the inspired authoritative word of God, and no other book is essential for knowing Christ. They then discuss how the Spirit uses gifted writers to illuminate Scripture, how good books help us apply God’s word to the specific challenges of our time, and why we should never read them instead of the Bible, but shouldn’t be hesitant to read them alongside it.

For over a decade, Glenna Marshall’s nights followed the same pattern. Everyone knows the feeling of falling short. But is all guilt the same? In this episode of Take 10, Jonathan and Laurie talk through the difference between true guilt and misdirected guilt. They’re honest about the unhelpful ways they each respond to guilt, whether by ignoring it, punishing themselves, delaying confession, or trying to make up for it by doing something for God. And they find comfort where every conversation about guilt should rightly end up, at the feet of a Saviour who moves toward sinners, who has already carried our guilt to the cross, and who, like the prodigal son’s father, is running toward us with open arms.
