Former teacher and stand-up comedian Joe Dombrowski stops by to chat about the film that essentially created the PG-13 rating. Gremlins isn’t a traditional Christmas movie, but it is set on Christmas Eve when a bunch of evil creatures (some of them clearly big old queens) take over a sleepy town. We go over the three rules of taking care of a Gremlin and how those are the same as the three rules for taking care of drag queens. Joe, of course, shares what it’s like dealing with the Christmas season in the classroom. Probably like dealing with a bunch of Gremlins!

They not only recap this surprisingly communistic film from the 1940s but also talk about how it spawned the Hallmark Christmas Movie Industrial Complex and what that says about our great nation. Along the way, they chat about town sluts, why they’d rather live in the evil “Pottersville” rather than the lovely Bedford Falls, and how much sex Jimmy Stewart is probably getting. Dan also does shockingly well at identifying Christmas-themed sex acts. Just wait until you hear about “Hot Chocolate Rain.”

Hilarious internet and TV writer R. Eric Thomas joins Brian to talk about the Bing Crosby classic with a title song just about everyone can sing. The NAACP also gets on the phone to stop R. Eric from defending a rather cringey minstrel number from the original movie. Other than that, the movie has a hidden gay subtext with a hilarious drag performance, a gay icon in the making, and one of the characters prefers being with guys in the army than with ladies at home. Oh, and in the movie “snow” probably means “coke.” A white Christmas indeed!
