Step number five is the second step of our action steps. I have to admit that the first few times that I did step four, I did it with the expectation of doing step number five. In other words step five was kind of hanging over me as I thought of which of the things I had done that I was willing to tell someone else about.

When I finally reached the end of my rope, it became important to me to do step four with complete honesty, (well, as much as I could muster in those early days), with no expectations of doing step number five. I tried to be as honest as possible, and I was going to say it was easier than ever before, but that would be untrue because I had never before our out myself to be seen for the real me. But now, now I had the feeling and knowledge of having real power, (the Power greater than myself from the second step), and I felt I could say anything without fear because God was truly within me.

 I would like to talk today about my life leading up to the fifth step. In other words, the preparation that includes honesty and willingness, coupled with a dash of courage, that would lead me into a fitful fifth step.
