On this episode, Ryan recaps the 2019 PGA Championship from Bethpage Black, with Brooks Koepka winning his fourth major championship. We look forward from Koepka's win, as well dig in on the performances of Tiger, DJ, Rory, Spieth and more. Can anyone stop Brooks? Then Ryan talks about his week in the Pinehurst area for the US Senior Women's Open, won by Helen Alfredsson. He gives a special shout out to Jane Crafter for her great week at Pine Needles and shares some details on the golf courses he was able to play in town.
On this episode, Ryan gets into Max Homa's win at the Wells Fargo Championship, discussing how Homa overcame so much doubt and struggle to get to this incredible point. Homa's win also provides a window into the common struggles of pro golfers, and it shows they're more like us than we think. Also, Ryan shares his thoughts on the PGA Championship being in May, making a better flow for the majors.
The 2019 Masters was one of the greatest sporting events of our lifetimes, and with a week to digest it all, Ryan is back to review and react to perhaps the greatest Sunday in major championship history. Ryan goes through the emotions of watching Tiger win major No. 15, what this might portend for the rest of 2019 and the remainder of Woods' career, as well where this Masters ranks for him among the greatest of all time. He then goes into the future fortunes of Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele and Francesco Molinari, and looks forward to the final three majors of 2019.
Ryan's back from a trip to the Pinehurst part of North Carolina, playing golf with Dame Laura Davies at Pine Needles to preview the second US Senior Women's Open. Ryan talks about the experience and what a joy it was to watch Dame Laura play some damn good golf (with a rental set, at that). Then he gets into comparing playing Mid Pines with Pine Needles, the strong opinions about both courses, as well the must-drinks and eats in Pinehurst.
After a month on the road, Ryan's back to talk about the incredible finish at The Players. TPC Sawgrass was A-plus in March, and the finale on Sunday was the most entertaining of the year. We dig in on Rory McIlroy's win, Jim Furyk's resurgence, Jon Rahm's meltdown and what to expect next March.
Ryan kicks off the show talking about his near-month on the road, including playing in the PGA Tour pro-am for the Puerto Rico Open and his trip to the island.
On this week's show, we had two controversies to discuss coming out of the Genesis Open.
After some tone-deaf comments about his payment arrangement with El Tucan to caddie for him in Mexico, Matt Kuchar comes around and agrees to pay David Ortiz his requested $50,000. So now what?
JB Holmes won the Genesis Open on Sunday, and he frustrated a lot of golf fans in the process with is slow (yet clutch) play. The PGA Tour has to do something to improve its product, so why aren't they?
Golf-travel author Tom Coyne returns for this second episode on “Talking GolfGetaways” with answers from around the world — Ireland, Scotland, Philadelphia and the Monterey Peninsula — when taking the Emergency 9 quiz. Plus, his thoughts on haggis, travel roommates, golf raingear and, yes, ball-stampers.
On this edition of the podcast, El Tucan (aka David Ortiz), who was the fill-in caddie on the bag for Matt Kuchar's win at the Mayakoba Golf Classic, shared what he was actually paid to loop in Mexico that week. Was he paid enough? What would fix this whole thing?
Then we dig into Phil Mickelson's fifth-career win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, including his last-minute push to finish the tournament on Monday. Paul Casey proved himself right in choosing to wait until Monday. Does Phil's win mean much of anything for his US Open chances?
After a hiatus of a few weeks for the PGA Show and the launch of GolfTripX.com, Ryan's back to talk about the European Tour's mistake in hosting the Saudi International in Saudi Arabia, as well the other problem countries on golf's global calendar. Then Ryan goes on the other extreme and lauds the Phoenix Open for everything it gets right, including so much more beyond the infamous 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale.
