Dan Abnett and Mark Harrison sci-fi odyssey series, The Out, has become something of a sleeper hit in the pages of 2000 AD. At the furthest edge of the universe, Cyd Finlea is photo-journalist working for the publishers Global Neographic, travelling deep into outer space — otherwise known as THE OUT — and cataloguing the alien societies that she encounters. She left Earth ten years ago and has lost track of how far she is from home, but regardless she keeps going. Dan and Mark discuss the series' serendipitous creation, the influence of 1970s and '80s sci-fi book covers, and how Cyd's journey through The Out tells us something out the here and now.
