Pease and Jay Glaser of Glaser Sails have been among the class's top sailmakers stretching back for decades - first with Danger Sails, then with Ullman Sails, and now back on their own as Glaser Sails. Incredible sailors in their own right, they contribute knowledge and energy to the class more from off the boat than on, and the 505 Class is lucky to have them. With the 2022 Worlds coming up at the Royal Cork, the world's oldest yacht club, who better to hype the event than Region 1's own Peter Scannell, IRL 8987. Steve Taylor had a reasonably short but incredibly successful competitive sailing career, topped off with a win at the '79 505 Worlds in Durban. We talk about his unusual start in sailboat racing, his 2 wins in the 420 Worlds, sketchy roads in the Basque Country, Sally Lindsay's spinnaker making talent, locker rooms and how other people's divorces shaped his own life. There aren't many people who've won as often in 505s as Mike Holt, but Mike's as true to the spirit of the fleet as anyone - always eager to help others improve their own sailing, and having a great time doing it all.
