The 6-4-3 Podcast

We're 5 games into the season and things haven't exactly gone smoothly for the defending champs. Pitching has been unreliable, the offense has been struggling, and the team is clearly missing their superstar both in the lineup, and especially in the field. It's way too early to freak out, but today would be a great day for the Braves to play like the World Champions.

We've reached the final game of Spring Training for the reigning World Series Champs and not a moment too soon. With a roster filled with young, exceptional players, expectations are definitely high. Brian Snitker announces Max Fried as his Opening Day starter, and it's a decision Braves fans should get used to hearing. Not content to rest on their laurels, Alex Anthopoulos and the Braves continued adding yesterday and now we see what the final product may look like. A playoff hero returns, and the Braves look ready to enter the season with an absolutely stacked roster. Not all is peaches and cream, however, as Freddie Freeman finally signs - with the evil blue empire no less.

The Freddie Freeman Era is over, but that doesn't mean the Braves are. It isn't easy to say, but with yesterday's trade and today's massive extension, the Braves are a better ballclub today than they were at the end of '21. It's never easy to lose a franchise icon, but sometimes in this sport you need to have the stones to do what's best for the team. With a few more roster holes that need to be filled, let's see what else Alex has up his sleeve.
