The Activated Podcast

"Discussions" is vague, and how much is only one day going to help when racism and extremism in America are systemic & cultural?

Manipulation and misinformation continue by corporate media, rhetorical tools, and through inorganic growth.

A Washington Post headline says "Biden orders end of federally run private prisons"; however, once you look at the details, he didn't really end them. People were also lied to about survival checks, and they don't appear to be coming any time soon, and are only supposed to be $1400.

We discussed anti-racist and antifascist activists coming together in Pacific Beach on Jan 9, discussed the DC capitol riots further, questioned if the Trump social media ban is actually censorship, and gave our predictions for inauguration and the future of the country.

We give our thoughts about the attempted coup in DC on January 6th. At a few points some audio cuts out for a few seconds due to internet connection problems during the recording.

It's a new year so we felt like we needed a new addition to the podcast that could provide a perspective we couldn't. Bizzy Balboa is an actively active activist, artist, podcaster (Get To Know Me Podcast), and entrepreneur. Her presence is much needed and greatly appreciated. It's her final decision if she'd like to join The Activated Podcast permanently as a host, but we hope everyone shows her some love in the meantime to help her decision to accept!

We discussed the Georgia Runoff, Nancy Pelosi & Mitch McConnell's houses vandalized, whether Trump will go to jail or not, the current unsustainable system, the January 6th DC MAGA "protests", and the murder of Andre Hill.

La Prensa San Diego recently released an article detailing how San Diego County law enforcement and fire agencies have secretly run a local committee without public knowledge that has spent at least $100 million on armored vehicles, facial recognition technology, license plate readers, drones, riot gear, and other security equipment.

Art Castañares (publisher/editor-at-large of La Prensa) joined us to discuss how the San Diego Urban Area Working Group (comprised of a police or fire department representative from each of the 18 cities in the county) has received and disbursed funds from federal grants given by DHS since around 2008, all without public knowledge and odd city council votes.

According to La Prensa, "When the UAWG was created in 2008, the group deemed itself exempt from the California Public Records Act (CPRA), the state law which declares that “access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in this state.”.  This is an episode you don't want to miss out on hearing!
