  • What do you really want? Why do you want it? - Joel Johanneson - #18
For episode 18, Joel Johanneson is back to dive deeper into the conversation around consciousness. Joel is an author, teacher, healer, and coach on a mission to share his understandings to help others experience the infinite nature of life.
    What is the human being?
How do we raise our vibrational frequencies?
    Why does exploring consciousness matter?
Joel answers these questions and a lot more. If you want to start living in tune with your true self, quiet your mind and ask yourself what you truly want, and why you want it. All too often we act or believe in ways that are influenced by external sources. Quieting the noise and looking within is the key element to unlocking higher levels of consciousness.

  • Tactical Entrepreneurship and the Building Blocks of Mindset - Zak Kosher - #16
Zak Kosher, founder and CEO of Nectr Social joins for episode 16 to provide tactical, practical insight around how to execute a vision, sources of passion, finding fulfillment, a ton more.
"Mindset" is the basis for this conversation because Zal and I agreed that the progression and development of our mindsets- through different yet somewhat similar trials, has been the single most important thing towards being able to wake up with a sense of adventure and purpose.

  • Music Producer and Young Business Mind - Johnny van der Velden #13
Episode 13 features Johnny van der Velden, 21, a young business professional and music producer. From afar, watching Johnny progress from learning how to make beats to playing live shows in large venues in a matter of a few years has been inspirational… but it didn't come overnight and it didn't happen without some serious hard work and determination.
I love today's conversation for many reasons, but fundamentally because Johnny brings passion and dedication to his craft while continuing to excel in his current career path in business.

  • Swimming in Miracles - Dean Hall - #11
In episode 11, Dean Hall, a world record extreme distance swimmer, 2x cancer survivor, speaker, and licensed marriage and family therapist gives the most complete interview to date on his journey and past experiences. Dean's story is one of lost identity, healing, connection to nature, and more.
The quote that stuck with Dean during his recovery was this, "There are two ways to live your life. One as if nothing is a miracle. And the other, is as if everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein. Adopting this mindset allowed Dean to stay positive and gave him a kick in the ass to do something radical. He became the first man to swim the entire length of the Willamette River, the longest river in Oregon, as an active cancer patient.
Despite being told by doctors that his incurable form of leukemia would one day kill him, Dean is now cured and healthier than ever. He refutes the argument that the mind has limits and offers hope to those in need of healing.
This episode has a different feel and format that the first ten. Dean and I, along with two other filmmakers based in Canada are working on a film project that includes documenting Dean's next extreme distance swim. For now, we cannot disclose the location and route of the swim, but I can tell you it's long… and challenging.
Because of that I was reluctant to speak much and interfere with our single-track method of recording the audio. It worked out great as Dean did most of the talking while I sat back and facilitated the story.

  • Mental Health and Finding a Path - Kasey Taylor - #10
Episode 10 features Kasey Taylor. Kasey is the founder of the Scooty Fund, a non-profit organization with a mission to promote, support and advance culture surrounding mental health and wellness in ways that enhance the lives and well-being of young people.
Kasey's younger brother, my friend, Will Taylor (aka Scooty) died by suicide in March 2017. There were no signs of mental illness or any depression whatsoever. On the outside, Will was perfectly fine.
Since then, the Scooty Fund has grown from an idea and a dream into a growing organization making real change.
Mental health is not easy to talk about. The issue is so complex it can seem unsolvable. It is not unsolvable. Every little step counts. Whether it be turning off the cell phone an hour before bed or talking with a friend about their challenges, we all play a role in maintaining the mental health of our communities.
Follow the Scooty Fund on Instagram and get on the list to share your journey around mental health during a Wellness Warrior Wednesday takeover!
