Wait, let me de-superhero. *struggles with taking off the uniform* 

Alright.  

Chowdy folks, it’s me. Andy Schlesser. I’m my normal self today.  I would usually tell you what thing about sleep or which bad guy we are fighting this week right about now. However, today I’m taking a minute to speak as a normal human being. As time has gone on, I have come to a conclusion that I personally wanted to share with you. Being a Sleep Superhero is being a real superhero.

Most, if not all, of the superhero stories are based on humans like us becoming supernatural beings and gaining supernatural powers. Wouldn’t it be awesome to command lightning and thunder like Thor or heat your morning cup of coffee with laser beams shooting out of your eyes like Superman? Or the technology of Batman with bat hooks that catch corners on every surface?  Or Tony Stark with a near endless energy supply and mechanicals suits that rarely malfunction? Many people dream of those abilities and tools being their own and how that could change their lives. But the reality is that almost all of those things are science fiction.  To become a replica of those superheroes is impossible.

Well, everybody, today is a very special day! There is a special announcement to make in just a moment. But before I break the news, I have to take a minute to stress the power of the pillow!

I try not to take for granted the weight that a pillow supports every night. Our spine is a vast network of fibers, tissue, fluid and bones balancing precariously day in and day out. Even half an inch this way or that can mean the difference between pain and comfort.

And that reminds me of a fantastic statistic: pillows support 30% of your spine while you sleep!

There are 24 bones in your spine that are flexible (not fused together) and your pillow supports about seven of those. That means 30% is a huge deal!

Think about it like this. If I come over and mow your lawn and I do a great job for 70% of it but that last 30% is rough — missing spots, meandering lines. How would you feel?

We are headed into the fall and winter seasons of 2022., and wouldn’t you know it, midterm elections are on the horizon.

I am not here to talk about politics or convince you to vote one way or the other. What keeps me up at night is the stress the election cycles create. The election cycle steals from your sleep cycles. But it doesn’t have to!

These sleep cycles are being stolen by Miss Information and her pet energy vampires. Miss Information is responsible for a lot of negativity on the internet. Her pet energy vampires feed their negativity by leeching your positivity. Don’t be a victim! I’ll give you three ways to protect yourself.

With the folks walking through the store we start with step one, the mattress. Step two, the power of the pillow! Step three, the Gamechanger. Step four, cool and comfy linens. And finally, step five, your habits!

Mattman talks to Sweet Dreams Mattress and More's Kieth Moneymaker about the Dreams4All foundation.

It’s a bright day today and there is opportunity in the air!  At the moment, my enemies of the sleep state are held at bay. They cower in the shadows and plot their next move no doubt. While they are busy doing what they do, I wanted to take a minute to talk about some of my superhero sleep swag! My Superhero Sleep Suit and cape are the obvious parts of my uniform that people see. However, there are a couple subtle pieces of swag.

As everybody knows, I am a Sleep Superhero.  I wear the mattsuit, the cape, the pink glasses, the whole nine yards!  And I don’t want to just be a superhero in name alone. So I look for ways to save things.  That’s what superheroes do!  So we do a blood drive at the store every couple months.  Donating blood saves 3 lives per donation.  I also hop in the Mattmobile and rotate a mattress from time to time for elderly folks in need.  However, there is one thing I do above all the rest that I focus on to make an impact on the lives of our community.  That is called Dreams4All.  Dreams4All believes that nobody deserves to sleep on the floor.
