On this week’s podcast we have Asisipho Tsotsa a qualified OT working in a psychiatric hospital. She is a youth empowerment activist driven by the need to contribute to social justice. She was awarded the BEST delegate at Model United Nations ||| in 2019 where she represented SA. In this episode she shares about the different media platforms that she uses to advocate for Occupational Therapy & speaks to us about her NPO, 21 daughters & sons of the King which seeks to harness the skills of young people. On this weeks podcast we introduce to you Kira Lane Parenzee a Third year Occupational Therapy student. Kira is a student at the University of the Western Cape and she shares with us all the challenges she’s had to face in the degree. Kira delves into her emotions of the stigma she has experienced as a student who is currently in her 6th year of study in a four year degree course and how she has learnt to adapt to the classroom dynamics over the years. She also shares with us how she has learnt to make the best of her years in university and how she has managed to stay in contact with her friends who have now graduated. Kira leaves us with some motivating words, “Trust the process, trust the journey you’re on.”

On this week’s podcast we have Zenande Ncetani. Zenande is a fourth year Occupational Therapy student studying at the University of the Western Cape. She is an executive member of the OTASA-S committee and is the ethics committee representative. Zenande shares with us how she had to deal with her emotions after realizing that she had to repeat a year and how this impacted her future goals. She also delves into how she was able to see the light even in the midst of this storm. She further elaborates on how she doesn’t allow what society & social media portray to place pressure on her. Finally, Zenande expresses the importance of building relations in University and she explains what her role is in the OTASA-S executive committee.

On this weeks episode of the Adventures of OT, we introduce to you Lehlogonolo Ramoipone. Lehlogonolo, is a male student studying at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. He shares with us how he came to study occupational therapy and why he is passionate about being in this profession. Lastly, Lehlogonolo explains the importance of having several income streams as the next generation of South Africa.

In this weeks episode we introduce to you Farai Simbabure. She is a qualified Occupational Therapist who graduated valedictorian in 2019 at the University of the Western Cape. Farai shares how she was able to express herself freely by letting go of her hair in her new environment and how that has liberated her to this day. She further expands on the challenges of applying for community service as an international student and also shares with us what routine she put into place which resulted in her graduating valedictorian. Finally, she delves into the nitty gritty of everything you will need to know in order to qualify to practice as an occupational therapist in Canada.
