The Adventuring Party

Episode 660

This week's hosts: Xaosseed, Scarr, HidaOWin & SavageMick

Editor - SavageMick

This week the Party goes behind a transparent screen to read the GM's upside-down notes on Quantum Ogres. We examine the idea of transparency in roleplaying games and what, or how much, of the inner workings of a game you should share with your players.

Epics.

No - YOU are making it weird!

Just listen to this regular-length show.

"So let there be not battle on a ground of dissolution, let there be no stopping on light ground, let there be no attack on a ground of contention, let there be no cutting off of trafficked ground. On intersecting ground form communications, on heavy ground plunder, on bad ground keep going, on surrounded ground make plans, on dying ground fight." - Sun Tzu

Never Give Up! Never Surrender! Man, I really liked the movie Galaxy Quest! Great cast and it had its heart in the right place. Let me tell you, that Signorey Weaver is a total smokeshow and Alan Rickman makes wearing latex and doing Shakespeare look effortless. The effects really hold up too. Okay, maybe not the part with the Death Gauntlet.

Oh yes, this week the Party talk about when players and NPC's fight to the death.

Remember that rock monster!? Tight!

Apologies for the delay, folks.

This week, The Party discuss the comings and goings in the wargame, convention and streaming spaces as of late.

Show notes:

01:03: Warhammer Plus

02:31: I think it’s the 42nd Millenium at this stage.

03:57: The only context you deserve

05:10: Can’t find the original art, but here's the mini

12:01: Liam mentions Book of Choyer for Warhammer Fantasy lore. For 40k stuff, I’m a big fan of 40k Theories, who does both Lore For Newcomers and deepdive fan speculation. I also like the new podcast Adeptus Ridiculous, but they’re Not Worksafe so I won’t link them here.

13:15: Not sure the math agrees with you there Eoin: WD was weekly from 2014-2016, so 144 issues would only go back 6-7 years.

15:39: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiaJldR39A8

17:05: Here’s the promised breakdown.

18:05: https://www.dicebreaker.com/events/uk-games-expo-2021/news/uk-games-expo-2021-drops-covid-19-safety-requirements

27:55: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/06/14/download-the-new-edition-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-core-rules/

29:48: Magic: The Gathering's special 'wacky fun' card sets.

32:06: I have fond memories of bumping into Eoin after AoS first came out, watching him tear at his beard screaming ‘AND THEN SIGMAR FLEW INTO SPACE ON A COMET OF PURE SIGMARITE!!!”

32:58: Only writer of Gary Gygax's Appendix N who's still alive.

33:37: If you weren’t aware, Warhammer Fantasy Battle will be returning as Warhammer: The Old World.

34:44: Planescape and Exalted

37:49: Coincidentally, Kill Team is also getting a new release very soon.

Turns out The Party can't have a conversation about Lazy Gaming (or "Lazy Gaming") without getting into sex education, the unbearable lightness of torches, stick vs. automatic, the dangers of Matt Mercer and watching Savage try and claw his way out of the Hypocrisy Hole. More effort than we had accounted for but that's how things shake out on The Adventuring Party!
