  • Forget everything you know

If you want to make a successful transition from paraplanner to highly competent and skilled financial adviser, the first thing you should consider is to 'forget everything you know' from your previous role. Although these two roles complement each other in delivering a first class client experience, they are worlds apart in what is required to reach the top of your game.

This week, James and Sean are fortunate enough to be joined by one of the statesmen of financial planning in the UK, Jason Butler.

Jason shares stories, insights and anecdotes built up over his 30 years' experience in financial services, as a financial planner, business owner and private investor.

Together, we take a deep dive into offering a true financial planning experience for clients and the communication skills and listening techniques required to do so. Jason also offers advice directly to those going through the transition to becoming a financial adviser and what they can do to master their craft.

  • Why do you want to be a financial adviser?

In this episode, James and Sean discuss why they wanted to be financial advisers and their personal journey to finding their 'why'.

This week, the hosts are joined by Amyr Rocha-Lima, Chartered Financial Planner and Partner at Holland Hahn & Wills, based in Kingston Upon Thames.

Amyr has over 10 years' experience as a financial planner and is now widely considered one of the leading lights in the profession. Amyr's story is perhaps a little different, having started his career in what he calls 'provider land' with Axa, before joining MetLife where he was tasked with promoting financial products to financial advisers.

Amyr discusses how his sales background and the relationships he had built with financial planners helped him to initially make the jump across to the adviser's side of the fence. We also dive deep into our desire to help people understand the complex world of personal finance and how this drives us all to deliver an excellent customer experience for our clients.
