  • Claude Cowork Explained: AI That Actually Does Your Work, Not Just Answers Questions

🤖 What if AI could actually do your work, instead of just telling you how to do it?

Most people use ChatGPT or Claude to ask questions, generate ideas and get advice. But then they still have to do the actual work themselves.

What if AI could analyse 50 documents, organise your files, create spreadsheets, research competitors and produce finished reports without you manually completing every step?

That's what Claude Cowork is designed to do. But isn't it just another AI agent? And how is it different from normal Claude?

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh explain what Claude Cowork is, how it differs from traditional AI chat and AI agents, and how businesses can use it to automate repetitive work and save valuable time.

Here's what we break down 👇

🤖 What exactly is Claude Cowork? Developed by Anthropic, Cowork brings powerful AI capabilities to everyday office tasks, allowing Claude to work across authorised files, documents and supported applications.

💬 Claude Chat vs Claude Cowork. Traditional AI chat can answer questions, analyse documents and create content. Cowork goes further by carrying out extended, multi-step tasks and producing finished work.

🦾 Is Claude Cowork actually an AI agent? Yes! We explain what AI agents are, how they make decisions and use tools, and why Cowork is a ready-to-use agentic AI product rather than an entirely different technology.

🔄 Claude is changing. Anthropic has announced the integration of Cowork and normal Claude chat, moving towards an experience where AI can handle both quick questions and more complicated assignments.

📊 Automating your weekly marketing reports.

🔍 AI-powered competitor research and SEO.

📁 Let AI organise your business administration.

🚀 How to try Claude Cowork yourself.

    🎯 The biggest takeaway

We're moving from AI that simply answers questions to AI that can complete real work.

    Instead of asking:

"How do I create this report?"

    You could increasingly ask:

"Create this report using these files, check the information and show me the finished result."

But greater automation doesn't mean removing human oversight.

The opportunity is to delegate repetitive work to AI so you can spend more time growing your business.

Start with one low-risk task, measure the time saved and build from there.

  • Stop Repeating Yourself to ChatGPT: How to Create AI Skills That Do Things Your Way

💸 What if the cheapest AI model is actually costing your business the most money?

A cheaper model might take ten attempts to complete a task, while a more expensive one gets it right first time. Add the hours spent correcting mistakes, and suddenly the cheaper option doesn't look so cheap.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh unpack Anthropic's research into the real cost of AI, Claude Opus 5.5's new pricing and why businesses should measure the cost of completing a task, not simply the price of an AI subscription.

Here is what we break down 👇

🤖 What are you actually paying for? We explain AI models, tokens and APIs in plain English, including how usage-based pricing differs from a monthly subscription.

💰 Fresh input, output and cached input. Why AI companies charge for new information, generated answers and previously processed information that can be reused more cheaply.

🧠 Are you paying for AI's thinking time? Advanced models can perform additional reasoning before answering, and that processing can contribute to your costs.

📉 Claude Opus 5.5's price reductions. Anthropic reports 20% cheaper standard input and output tokens, plus 60% cheaper cached input reads compared with Opus 5.

🔄 The hidden cost of repeated attempts. Every correction and retry can increase processing costs. A cheap first response does not necessarily mean a cheap completed task.

⚡ When paying more saves money. A more capable model may complete complex work with fewer mistakes, while a simpler model may be sufficient for straightforward administration.

🧩 Why reasoning effort matters. We explain low, medium and high reasoning settings, and when additional thinking could prevent expensive mistakes.

✅ Why AI should check its own work. Testing website functionality, checking calculations and verifying content can catch errors before they reach you.

⏳ Your time is the biggest hidden cost. If AI generates something in 30 seconds but you spend an hour correcting it, are you really saving money?

🏢 Five practical ways to reduce AI costs. Give better instructions, choose the right model, introduce useful checks, reuse information and measure the finished outcome.

    🎯 The biggest takeaway

    Stop asking:

"How much does this AI model cost?"

    Start asking:

"How much does it cost to get the job done properly?"

The cheapest AI model is not necessarily the most cost-effective.

Measure the total cost of completing the task, including AI usage, repeated attempts and your own time.

  • AI Hacked the Government. Is Your Business Next? 7 Ways to Protect Your Business

🤯 Josh built a website with AI in around 30 minutes, forgot about it, and discovered it was generating over 20 enquiries a month, potentially worth £15,000 in work!

No ongoing content strategy. No constant SEO tweaks. Not even a phone number or email address displayed on the website.

Just AI, a simple SEO strategy and an experiment that delivered some surprising results.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh reveal how the website was built, the SEO strategy behind it, what happened after it went live and why AI is making website creation easier while making marketing strategy more valuable than ever.

Here is what we break down 👇

🤖 Building a website with AI in 30 minutes. Josh explains how he used Claude and Netlify to create a functioning website, including the homepage, service pages, navigation, copy and enquiry functionality.

⚡ One-shotting the initial SEO. Around 20 minutes of keyword research helped shape the website's content, page structure and internal linking.

🔍 The surprisingly simple SEO strategy. Rather than chasing traffic for the sake of traffic, the website targeted people actively searching for property surveying and structural engineering services across London.

📍 Why location pages matter. Dedicated pages targeted relevant services and locations with genuine search demand, supported by useful information about property types, services, processes and FAQs.

😴 Then Josh forgot about it. This was an experiment rather than a client campaign. After completing the initial setup, he moved on to other things and largely left the website alone.

📈 The results. A few months later, the website had started ranking and was generating more than 20 high-intent enquiries every month.

💷 Where does the £15,000 figure come from? Josh assessed the potential value of the enquiries and estimated they represented around £15,000 of monthly work. Importantly, this is potential lead value, not guaranteed revenue or profit.

🧠 AI can build websites, but can it build successful businesses? AI has dramatically reduced the time required to create layouts, code, copy and functioning websites. But generating a website does not automatically mean generating customers.

🎯 Why strategy is still the valuable part. Understanding commercial keywords, local search demand, customer intent, website structure, trust signals and conversion optimisation is what turns a website into a potential customer acquisition channel.

⚠️ The lesson is not to build a website and forget about it!

This experiment demonstrates what can happen when you combine AI with a focused SEO and conversion strategy.

AI makes building the website easier.

    SEO gets it found.

    Strategy turns visibility into enquiries.

If you're a local business owner wondering whether AI can genuinely help you build a website that generates customers, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

  • I Built a Website With AI in 30 Minutes, Forgot About It… Now It Generates £15k a Month

🤯 A website built with AI in around 30 minutes is now generating more than 20 high-intent enquiries a month, potentially worth around £15,000 in work.

    The strangest part?

Josh had basically forgotten the website existed.

It started as an experiment. Could AI be used to build a functioning local business website, create the initial SEO structure and get it live incredibly quickly?

The answer was yes. But what happened over the following months revealed something far more important about the future of websites, AI and local SEO.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh break down exactly how the website was created, the surprisingly simple SEO strategy behind it, what happened after it went live, and why AI is making website creation easier while making strategy more valuable than ever.

Here is what we break down 👇

🤖 Building a website with AI in around 30 minutes. Josh explains how he used Claude and Netlify to create the initial website, including the homepage, services, navigation, copy and enquiry functionality.

⚡ One-shotting the initial SEO. After roughly 20 minutes of keyword research, AI helped turn the research into the website's page structure, content and internal linking strategy.

🔍 The simple local SEO strategy behind it. Rather than chasing huge traffic numbers, the site was built around what customers were actually searching for, focusing on property surveying and structural engineering services combined with locations where there was genuine search demand.

😴 Then Josh basically forgot about it. This was an experiment rather than a client SEO campaign, so after the initial work the website was largely left alone. It did not even have a phone number or email address displayed.

📈 What happened next was the real surprise. A few months later, the website had started ranking and was generating 20-plus enquiries per month from people actively looking for property surveys and structural engineering work.

💷 Those enquiries represented around £15,000 of potential monthly work. Importantly, this is potential lead value, not £15,000 of guaranteed monthly revenue. Not every enquiry will convert and job values vary. But the leads themselves demonstrate genuine commercial intent.

Sometimes getting the fundamentals right can be incredibly powerful:

AI makes building the website easier.

    SEO gets it found.

Strategy turns that visibility into opportunities.

🎯 This episode is essential listening for local business owners, marketers and entrepreneurs who want to understand how AI is changing website development and why strong local SEO fundamentals still matter.

  • ChatGPT Ads Explained: How They Work, What They Cost and Whether Your Business Should Use Them

💬 ChatGPT Ads are here. But should your business actually be spending money on them?

Google built one of the biggest advertising businesses in history by monetising what people search for. ChatGPT could potentially go one step further by understanding the context behind what someone is actually trying to achieve.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh break down how ChatGPT Ads work, what they cost, the early performance data, the privacy questions they raise, and whether local businesses should start moving some of their advertising budget away from Google and into AI.

Here is what we break down 👇

🤖 How ChatGPT Ads actually work. Ads appear separately from ChatGPT's answers and are clearly labelled as sponsored. Crucially, advertisers cannot pay to influence what ChatGPT actually says or recommends.

🎯 Why conversational intent could be incredibly valuable. A Google search might tell an advertiser that someone wants a CRM. A ChatGPT conversation could potentially reveal their industry, company size, existing system, problems, requirements and budget. That context could completely change how valuable an advertising opportunity becomes.

📈 ChatGPT is becoming a serious advertising platform.

💰 What do ChatGPT Ads cost?

📊 Do ChatGPT Ads actually generate customers?

😲 The result that surprised us most.

🔍 Are we watching SEO and PPC happen all over again?

🔐 The privacy question businesses cannot ignore.

🏪 Should local businesses start testing ChatGPT Ads?

💷 Should you move money away from Google Ads?

⚖️ The bigger question: paid ads or organic AI visibility?

Eventually, businesses could have two completely different ways of reaching customers through ChatGPT.

Pay to advertise alongside the conversation.

    Or...

Become the business ChatGPT actually recommends.

Which one ultimately becomes more valuable could shape an entirely new area of digital marketing.

    🎯 The biggest takeaway

It is far too early to claim that ChatGPT Ads outperform Google Ads or Meta Ads.

But conversational intent could make AI advertising extremely powerful, and OpenAI is rapidly building the infrastructure required to compete seriously for advertising budgets.

For businesses already spending successfully on digital advertising, this may be a channel worth testing rather than ignoring.

And whatever platform you use, measure what matters:

Customers. Revenue. Profit. Not just clicks and impressions.

  • Can People Tell You’ve Used AI? Claude Is Now Watermarking AI-Written Text!

🤖 Claude is about to start putting an invisible watermark inside AI-generated text. But can it actually expose when you have used AI?

There are no hidden characters. Nothing visible is added to the document. But through the statistical pattern of words Claude chooses, Anthropic says its technology could help determine whether Claude was involved in producing a piece of text.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh break down Claude's new text watermark, how the technology actually works, why the EU is pushing AI companies towards greater transparency, and what it could mean for businesses using AI to create content.

Here is what we break down 👇

🔎 Can people finally detect when you have used AI? Anthropic's planned detector will estimate the likelihood that Claude was involved in creating text, but importantly, it cannot definitively prove who wrote it.

🕵️ How can a watermark be completely invisible? We explain how Claude can subtly influence word choices to create a statistical pattern without inserting hidden characters, secret messages or visible markers.

🧠 Will watermarking make Claude's answers worse? Anthropic says the technology should have negligible impact on speed, cost or quality. We also look at the Google DeepMind research behind the technology and what its testing found.

🇪🇺 Why is this happening now? The move comes as transparency requirements under the EU AI Act take effect, with major AI companies including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Meta and Mistral signing up to the European Commission's Code of Practice.

⚠️ What can an AI watermark actually prove? A positive detection could suggest Claude was involved, but it cannot establish who used Claude, whether the entire document was AI-generated, whether the information is accurate, or whether somebody has done anything wrong.

✍️ Can editing remove the watermark? Light editing may leave the statistical signal intact, while substantial rewriting can weaken or potentially remove it. This creates an interesting question about how useful watermarking will be against people actively trying to bypass detection.

📈 Could Claude-watermarked content hurt your SEO? There is currently no evidence that Claude's watermark itself will damage Google rankings. A watermark indicates possible AI involvement. It does not tell Google, or anyone else, whether that content is useful, accurate or high quality.

    🏢 What should businesses do?

The answer is not to stop using AI.

Businesses should use AI in a way they would be comfortable explaining. Add genuine expertise and experience, fact-check important claims, retain human oversight and keep evidence of the research and editorial process behind important content.

    🎯 The biggest takeaway

Claude's watermark could be an important step towards greater transparency around AI-generated content.

But a watermark is evidence of possible AI involvement, not a verdict on authorship, accuracy or wrongdoing.

  • ChatGPT Is Using Reddit 86% Less: Why Businesses Need to Rethink AI Search

Has ChatGPT just changed the rules of AI SEO overnight?

New data from Promptwatch suggests that Reddit's share of visible citations in ChatGPT Search has fallen by around 86% in a matter of days – a dramatic shift for a platform that had become one of the most talked-about sources in AI search optimisation.

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh break down what happened, why ChatGPT may suddenly be citing Reddit far less frequently, and whether the explosion of Reddit marketing and manufactured brand mentions could have played a role.

They also explore what the change tells us about the wider world of AI search. If ChatGPT can dramatically change the sources it cites almost overnight, should businesses really be building strategies around individual AI SEO "hacks"?

Adam and Josh discuss the risks of relying too heavily on Reddit, how ChatGPT may choose which businesses and sources to trust, why Google AI Overviews and AI Mode appear to be behaving differently, and what local businesses can do to build more sustainable visibility across AI search.

Most importantly, they explain why the long-term winners may not be businesses trying to manipulate the latest AI ranking factor, but those building genuine authority across reviews, PR, trusted websites, industry publications, directories, social platforms, their own website and real customer conversations.

If you want to understand how to get your business mentioned, cited or recommended by ChatGPT, and how AI search optimisation is changing in 2026, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

🎙️ What if you could create professional voiceovers, narrate an entire audiobook or even clone your own voice without stepping inside a recording studio?

AI-generated voices have improved dramatically. ElevenLabs can now turn written scripts into realistic speech, recreate your own voice and even translate content into other languages while attempting to preserve the original speaker’s voice and delivery.

    Try ElevenLabs now: https://try.elevenlabs.io/415t8z0md1bx

But how good is it really? And what should you know before handing an AI company a digital version of your voice?

In this episode of The AI and Marketing Podcast for Local Businesses, Adam and Josh put ElevenLabs under the microscope, exploring what it can do, where it still falls short and the practical ways businesses can use AI-generated audio.

Adam also shares his experience using ElevenLabs to create the audiobook version of his own book, including the pronunciation problems, quality-control challenges and lessons he has learned along the way.

Here is what we break down 👇

🎙️ What ElevenLabs actually does. From realistic text-to-speech and voice cloning to audiobooks, dubbing, transcription, sound effects and conversational voice agents.

👤 How AI voice cloning works. We explore instant and professional voice cloning, plus why the quality of your original recordings can make a huge difference.

📘 Creating an audiobook with AI. Adam shares what he has learned turning Becoming a Strategic Business Leaderinto an audiobook and why uploading a manuscript and pressing "generate" is definitely not enough.

🎧 The best business use cases. Social media voiceovers, website explainers, product demonstrations, staff training, onboarding and educational content.

🌍 Creating multilingual content. Discover how AI dubbing could help businesses take one piece of content and adapt it for audiences around the world.

🗣️ Fixing pronunciation problems. We discuss pronunciation dictionaries, names, acronyms and specialist terminology, plus why human review remains essential.

⚙️ Our recommended ElevenLabs workflow. Start small, prepare your script for speech, test different voices, generate audio in manageable sections and carefully review the finished result.

💰 Credits, pricing and regenerating audio. Why generating huge sections at once can waste credits and why smaller blocks make corrections easier.

⚠️ Where AI voices still struggle. Incorrect pronunciation, unnatural emphasis, strange pauses and emotional delivery can still reveal the limitations of AI narration.

🔐 Voice cloning, ownership and consent. What businesses should consider before cloning voices, including security, permission and responsible use.

🏷️ Should you disclose an AI-generated voice? We discuss when transparency matters, particularly with audiobooks, podcasts, testimonials and personal communications.

⚖️ AI voice vs human voice actors. AI is becoming extremely capable for functional narration, but great human performers can still bring interpretation, emotion and instinct that AI struggles to reproduce.
