The Philadelphia Union put the Chicago Fire away over the weekend, demolishing the midwestern side 3-0 after eeking out a penalty shootout victory the week before. The first round match up in The MLS Cup Playoffs was one of contrasting styles and contrasting fortunes, and Chris and Jeremy are here to talk about all of it.

There was also a regular season match against Charlotte that no one watched. That makes 3 games!

The Philadelphia Union, fresh off their worst week of the 2025 season, turned in one of their best weeks of the campaign. They first went to the District and thumped DC United 6-0 and, following some fortuitous results elsewhere, took down New York City FC at home to win the Supporter's Shield.

Chris and Jeremy brought former Philly Soccer Page Managing Editor Peter Andrews on to discuss the momentous occasion.

The Union had hugely important matches in Vancouver and Nashville last week, but of which ended in losses - one of which was an historic drubbing. They finished the seven-day stretch with a win at home against New England, but a listless one at best. And yet, as this impressive Union campgain comes closer to an end, much is still in the team's control.

The Union continue their unexpected run through the Major League Soccer summer atop the Supporter's Shield standings. With 5 league matches to go and an Open Cup Semifinal, the season is already a success - but with a tantalizing set of trophies well within reach. Jeremy and Chris are back to talk Red Bulls times two, Chicago, and Cincinnati.

A draw in Houston, a win against Colorado, and another draw against a reborn Toronto FC - the Union weren't great in late July and early August, but they did enough to stay atop the Shield Standings and continue to gather points.

An international break and the typical summer smash of games gave Union fans 5 matches in just a three weeks. The Boys in Blue took points and took some knocks along the way, and Chris and Jeremy are here to tell it all.

The Philadelphia Union came out of a packed May on a noteworthy roll and continued that momentum in the first half of June.

The results kept coming, despite injuries, squad rotation, and national team call ups. Wins against Toronto north of the border and Charlotte south of it, sandwiched around a midweek slugfest of a draw in an empty stadium in Dallas meant the Union entered the summer "break" back in the Supporter's Shield's driver's seat (lots of apostrophes there).

The Union continue to steamroll the likes of LA Galaxy, Atlanta United, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds - OK, only one of those was a walk - and continue to struggle to put away teams like Inter Miami. Is their trouble in putting away elite teams a problem?

The Union finished April and started their May gauntlet by dismantling DC United, stealing a point from Montreal, holding off the feisty Indy XI, and playing league-leaders Columbus to an entertaining - if ultimately unsatisfying - draw. This is a top-level side in Major League Soccer with the results to show for it, and Chris and Jeremy are back to talk about the games, the style of play, and what Union fans might really want.

The Union were held scoreless by a hapless and horrid Orlando City side, then traded their all-time leading goal scored before dropping a forgettable match on a baseball field in New York. They righted the three-game ship with a stomping of Atlanta, despite being down a man.
