Excursions can range from 8 hours on the deep sea to 2-4 hours on closer inshore trips. Voluntourism is a concept that has gained much popularity in Hawaii. No matter where we travel, we need to take the attitude of “kuleana” (responsibility) to “malama” (take care of) the land, culture and people where we visit. On Maui there are many ways you can learn more about Hawaiian culture and history, and gain a working knowledge of indigenous plants/animals by having an enriching experience giving back to the community through volunteering.
