Whole Earth Recycling, based in Johannesburg, sorts more than 120 tons of recyclable material each month and Whole Earth Recycling Owner, Carmen Jordaan, together with her husband Danie Jordaan, have recently launched Whole Earth Organic Farm, which aims to get more people on the ‘green train’ by effortlessly converting customers’ organic kitchen waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Jordaan says: “There is no act too small to make a difference, and people generally underestimate how powerful recycling from home can really be. Reducing carbon emissions and keeping an eye on the use of materials such as plastic are two things that come to mind when considering the value of recycling.

Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park is made up of rugged kloofs, high
mountains and dramatic landscapes that sweep away inland from the Orange
River divulge the fact that you are now in the vast mountain desert.
An international treaty, signed in 2003, incorporated the AiAis Hot Springs Game
Park in Namibia and Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier National Park in South
Africa, resulting in the establishment of the Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier National Park.

This is a harsh and unpredictable land where water is scarce and life-sustaining
moisture comes in the form of early morning fog called Ihuries or Malmokkies by
the local people which rolls in from the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, sustaining a remarkable range of small reptiles, birds and mammals.
A staggering assortment of plant life, some species occurring nowhere else, is to
be found here, with gnarled quiver trees, tall aloes and quaint half-mens keeping
vigil over this inscrutable landscape.
One of the main features of the combined park is the worlds second largest
canyon the Fish River Canyon.

World Diabetes Day is on 14 November. Education on diabetes is vital, because even in
2022, many people who have the disease don’t realise it.

Diabetes is one of the largest global health emergencies of the 21st century and among
the top 10 causes of death worldwide.1
South Africa has one of the highest rates of diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa.1 The International Diabetes Federation estimates that there are approximately 4.6 million South
African adults with diabetes, about half of whom are not yet diagnosed.1 In South Africa,
diabetes is the second leading cause of death, with 90 000 South Africans dying from
diabetes-related causes in 2019.
It’s therefore extremely important for consumers to be aware of their diabetes status, as
prompt, proactive intervention, along with early treatment intensification and a healthy
lifestyle, can have a significant impact on type 2 diabetes, and its associated complications.
