Congresswoman Maxine Waters spoke to us about delivering the sixth Oliver Tambo Memorial Lecture which commemorates late struggle icon, consummate diplomat and doyen of democracy, Oliver Reginald Tambo, who would have turned 102 years old on 27 October 2019.

In 1986, as a member of the California Assembly, Rep. Waters called for the divestment of funds from corporations doing business with South Africa's apartheid regime and helped to make the call for divestment a national movement sweeping from state to state and city to city. She did this by authoring Assembly Bill 134, to divest a record $12 billion from public pension funds in California, thus fortifying California's opposition to the apartheid regime.

Jerome Klaaste spoke to us about The Aggrey Klaaste Trust, a non-profit trust named after his father, Dr Aggrey Robeson Zola Klaaste, who was an icon for nation building, a philosophy he championed as an editor of Sowetan newspaper.

Our guest presenter was James Delaney, contemporary painter , printmaker and sculptor. James recently won a Business Arts South Africa Award for his sculptures installed in The Wilds, a previously neglected park on the edge of downtown Johannesburg which he has rehabilitated.

11 year old Johan Coetzer spoke about his passion for gardening, in light of Garden Day which took place on Sunday, 20 October.

A few years ago, Johan gave each friend who attended his birthday party a few plants, a container, and some soil and fertiliser together with instructions on how to start their own little garden.
