Hashim Tarmahomed- Honours STUDENT at Wits University spoke to us about winning the AfriSam Student Award for Sustainable Design. The award is a programme for architecture students and candidate architects across South Africa that aims to inspire students to apply their learning of sustainable and innovative solutions to existing structures.

Our guest presenter was Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Manager Lindiwe Sangweni Siddo . She spoke about being in the hospitality industry since 1987 when she studied at the renowned hospitality school, Ecole Les, in Switzerland. We were also joined by Zengeziwe Msimang, the CEO of the Oliver and Adelaide Tambo Foundation and Dali Tambo, Activist, Filmmaker, TV-personality, businessman and son of the late Oliver Tambo.

75-year- Emmanuel Gasa spoke to us about being recently admitted as an attorney by Gauteng High Court in Pretoria. We were also joined by his mentor, Brandon Tshabangu who gave him a chance to do his articles.

Mahlatsi Mokgonyana, director of Rhinoceros, spoke about the theatre production which is written by celebrated French-Romanian playwright Eugène Ionesco, and directed by The Theatre Duo. The play takes place at the Ramolao Makhene Theatre in Johannesburg from 4 to 20 October.

Seven year old chess boffin, Mpho Bowers and his father Justin Bowers joined us in studio to talk about being a highly rated chess champion. Mpho is currently training for the African Youth Chess Championships in Windhoek, Namibia where he will be the youngest member of Team South Africa.

Our Thought Leaders were author Fred Khumalo, and Siphelele Mjadu – Unilever spokesperson. Fred Khumalo spoke about his long march this week to commemorate 7,000 Zulu men, women and children who walked from Johannesburg to Durban during the Anglo-Boer war. Siphelele Mjadu spoke about the International Day of the Girl Child, which took place on Friday 11th October, which aims to recognise girls’ rights, as well as the unique everyday challenges they face around the world.

Pam Yako, Managing Director of Zenande Leadership Consulting spoke to us about her book Women and Leadership: Conversations that Matter.

In her book, Pam has interviewed women who have overcome social and economic challenges to become leaders, mentors and role-models.

Shane Cooper is a bassist, composer and producer based in Johannesburg, He spoke to us about collaborating with future-jazz group MABUTA for a mini tour playing 4 shows in Joburg and Cape Town.

So Chef!, which runs from 5 to 20 October, is a series of culinary events where famous French chefs (such as Vincent Lucas) are invited to different cities in South Africa to participate in events and workshops, such as the movie eat-along . Michelle Constant visited the event
