Do you want to have iftar (fast breaking) dinner with a Muslim family?
During the month of Ramadan in the lunar calendar, Muslims fast by abstaining from consuming water or food from dawn to sunset. After the sunset, they break their fast with a meal called “Iftar”. This is an important time not only to break fast but also share this meal with friends including those of different faiths. It is truly a special time when people of different backgrounds come together and share in the Iftar experience, learning about different cultures and faiths in the process as we believe building peaceful societies start with knowing one another.

She is regarded as the world’s first Black African female fighter pilot and hails from South Africa!
Mandisa, who was born in Ntuzuma Kwazulu-Natal grew up in Malvern. She says she realised her love for aviation when she was about five years old when her mother and grandmother used to take them to airshows in Virginia Airport

In South Africa, cardiovascular disease (CVD) which includes coronary artery disease (CAD), is the leading cause of death after HIV/Aids2, and the most frequent cause of death worldwide today.1. More South Africans die of CVD than of all the cancers combined2. A common symptom of CAD is angina, yet many people don’t even know what that is. As a result, it is under-recognised and undertreated.

Wiebe Wakker is a Dutch motorcar driver and adventurer who also holds the current world record for completing the longest ever electric car trip in the world covering a distance of about 95,000 kilometres (59,000 mi). On 15 March 2016, he started his journey through his own electric car from his home country Netherlands to reach his final destination in Australia. On 7 April 2019, he managed to complete his journey taking 1,119 days by crossing 33 countries without even visiting a gas station.

Dave Fisher, photographer and founder of Ibali Photo Collective spoke about the upcoming nonprofit photography project with students from Muizenberg High School and a visiting American school.

The project is inspired by the recent tragic death of Janet Ntozini, a Muizenberg High School student who got killed while coming to the aid of a disabled boy, an event that greatly affected the school.

Professor Glenda Daniels, Associate Professor in Media Studies at the University of the Witwatersrand spoke about how South Africa ranks in the press freedom stakes. The latest World Press Freedom Index released by Reporters without Borders rates the state of press freedom in South Africa as “satisfactory”.
