Grief comes in all different shapes and sizes. My definition of grief is an ending of some kind. This definition encompasses so much more than the end of life.
There are actually different kinds of grief, and one that is not talked about enough is Ambiguous Grief. To simplify - these are the not so obvious (ie ambiguous) losses.
Today’s guest on The Be Ruthless Show, Faces of Grief Author Connie Mae Inglis, shares her story of ambiguous grief.
Connie is an award-winning author, editor, speaker, and teacher. She also hosts her own podcast, "Born on a Bridge," — a podcast which focuses on building bridges of understanding and making relational connections. Her mission in her podcast and future memoir is to connect the world that knows nothing about, and often fears, mental illness, to the world of mental illness as she has lived it as a caregiver to an adult child diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She wants the world to know that in the midst of the pain and heartache, there is hope.
Connie and her husband have lived
cross-culturally in Southeast Asia for the last 30+ years, dedicating their lives to working with minority language groups in Bible translation, literacy, and teaching.
Connie's greatest joy is found in her grandchildren. They fill her with love and laughter and lead her into the wonder of life. Always.
If she's not spending time with family, you can find Connie painting or hiking or camping or, if she's lucky, traveling to places she's never been, always with pen and paper in hand. Ever curious, she knows inspiration for her next poem, story, or novel could be right around the corner.
