In this episode of The American Carper Podcast Sean sits down with Patrick Mapes from Denver, Colorado. Patrick is one of the USA’s most avid multi species Fly Anglers, who has really started targeting our beloved species, putting a lot of work into promoting the fish through Urban Angler’s USA…and has recently also started pursuing them with a traditional ‘Euro approach’. Many Anglers who fish for carp with the ‘Euro’ approach like to try their hand at targeting them on the fly, but we have seen fewer fly anglers try the ‘Euro’ approach after they have been fly fishing for a while… this is a great discussion on the attributes of both approaches!

In this episode of The American Carper we sit down with one of the USA's most recognized Angler's ....'Da Snipa', Olivier Gandzadi. Born originally in France, Olivier emigrated to the USA a number of years ago and has been passionately fishing for both Carp and massive Sturgeon on the Columbia River ever since. We discuss his approach to both species in a wonderfully personal interview that really explores his journey starting with his very first rod, given to him by his grandmother in France, to fishing for large carp in the city of Paris and targeting the prehistoric Sturgeon and powerful carp with his friends on the Columbia river today. We take a look at the approach needed for large carp in a tidal river and the tackle and understanding needed of their environment to successfully catch them. An angler with a great sense of humor and love for the species who lives for the moment with his fishing....we get to see the real man behind the 'River Madness' in this special episode....and Olivier doesn't disappoint, with tales of targeting some 'refrigerators with fins'.
