Levi wanted to serve our country, however he could not pass the eye exam.
He tried several times.
On his last eye test, the doctor left the room for a few minutes.
Levi memorized the chart, passed the test and joined the Army.
Of Hispanic heritage, Levi emphatically states that he is an American not a hyphenated American!

April 02, 2018 The Americhicks WWII Project 4.1.18: 25 Steps - Butch Desens & Bob McAdam
Welcome to the Americhicks WWII Project podcast.
Kim Monson and Molly Vogt are your hosts.
Butch Desens was shot down and captured on his 70th mission flying a P-47 Thunderbolt in Europe.
And, just four days after arriving in Europe, Bob McAdam had to bail out of his B-17 bomber and was captured.
Both men ended up in the same German POW camp.
Now they literally live just 25 Steps from each other at their retirement community.
Steffan Tubbs (www.facebook.com/steffantubbs1) & Mountain Time Media (www.mountaintm.com) have created a documentary film to tell their story.
25 Steps (youtu.be/ACdk3Hun3lw) is scheduled to release around Memorial Day.
One other really interesting thing, Bob McAdam set the 5K world record at the 2017 Highlands Ranch Turkey Day 5K.

While the WWII Project obviously focuses on WWII, today Kim, Molly and their guest talk about both WWII and the Korean War.
Richard Keller was 13 years old when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
He joined the Navy in 1945, near the end of WWII.
When the Korean Conflict began, he was called to serve.
Of interest, Richard attended the same high school as General MacArthur (twenty years later).
Richard's interview is an excellent history lesson on the forgotten war: Korea.
