The Bedrock Way is a healthcare-based podcast to give practitioners their voice back. The Bedrock Way podcast is hosted by Dr. Andre Gomez, DPT, Executive Vice President, and leading healthcare innovator with over 20 years of experience and is produced by Jonathan Gonzalez, Media and Branding Director, Photographer, Videographer, Sound Engineer, and Public Speaker with over 10 years of experience in storytelling.
As the Executive Vice President at Bedrock Healthcare at Home, a management services organization, Andre recognized the need to speak about our fragmented healthcare system and the aftermath of the post pandemic trauma. The Bedrock Way podcast emerged May 1, 2023, to reconstruct the severed vocal cords of our healthcare workers which has led to the silencing of the healthcare industry.
Our nation’s healthcare practitioners lost their voice during covid as they faced daily carnage, political turmoil, polarizing viewpoints and consistent
chaos. Many healthcare workers lost their purpose, they became isolated, depressed, and ostracized. With the ubiquitous masking that was a staple everywhere, it conveniently silenced the masses. Healthcare workers expressed their frustrations, but their words didn’t matter; their voices weren’t heard.
With a silent healthcare worker, came a void of patient advocacy. Patients were left to fend for themselves without a heroic protagonist that would speak for them. During trauma or tribulations, we tend to lose sight of our first love— We become complacent, stagnant, mentally absent, and indifferent. In healthcare, there are several factors that only compound the aforementioned factors, and they include things like productivity standards, insurance cuts, toxic work environments, along with the inability to maintain an effective and healthy work life balance.
Our unhappiness at work carries over into our personal family home. This is especially detrimental to healthcare workers who rely on the strength of their family support system to champion their daily tasks. The industry lost its voice, but with the Bedrock Way podcast, we get it back! The Bedrock Way serves as the platform for our practitioners and healthcare heroes to speak up again, with conversation and guidance to reconnect with their love for the healthcare industry and fall in love again with their purpose.
