  • "Deadhead", Genius, Hockey-Playing-Muralist: JEFF HUNTINGTON

This week's guest on The Annapolis Podcast is the irreplaceable Jeff Huntington. Jeff is an Art Institute of Chicago trained artist, who is well known for his murals. We talk about his childhood in an artistic military family. He stole a car in high school and ran away with his girlfriend to become a follower of the Grateful Dead, aka as a "Deadhead". His teenage years were filled with drugs and addled with booze. Some mentors noticed his brilliance and persuaded him to get his GED and eventually get accepted into the premier art school in the country. We talk about whether drugs really do help facilitate creative art. Jeff tells me how his athletic background has helped his mural career. We talk about the importance of preservation and the importance of creativity and innovation. Finally, we talk about his thoughts on the Historic Preservation Commission of Annapolis and the pending court case regarding Jeff's mural above Tsunami. Jeff is truly a fascinating man who will surprise you, entertain you and make you start a discussion with a friend.

I especially think its neat that Jason has hung out at Travis Pastrana's house (Travis Pastrana is one of the most successful motorcross athletes ever.) with the fellow Annapolis area "motorhead. We talk about that and more on this week's podcast. Listen, share and subscribe!
