Ok; it's time for hard conversations! Today, we're diving into three signs of burnout and why you, as a good friend, may be the best person to talk to your friend and support her when she is showing these burnout symptoms.
In this episode, I'll share the three must-do things for a girls getaway that will turn a simple trip into an unforgettable experience. These tips can truly help you relax, reconnect, and create amazing memories together.
So we all know that "mom-cations" are great for rest, resetting, and reconnecting with our dearest friends. But can we pull it off without spending thousands? With some smart planning and cost-saving travel tips, I'll talk about how moms can create rejuvenating and affordable getaways that fit into their schedules. Let's get into it!
In this episode we're talking about the B-word (burnout!). What drives busy moms to this overwhelm? Is there a way to fix it? Better yet, is there any way to prevent it altogether? Let's talk about it!
What are other ladies with busy schedules doing, if anything, to stay connected with their good friends? What are the top two things that make this hard to do for moms? Today, let's look at some eye-opening results of a survey I collected from some busy moms in my community!
Hey hey!
So today we're talking about something that I think many moms can relate to--mom guilt! It's that feeling that you've let down your kids even though you are doing everything you can. So why do we have it? And can we prevent it? I have a theory; keep listening to find out who might be to blame!
If you were to describe a good friendship, what would you say? We automatically think of the friend who is kind, giving, and selfless. What about the friend on the receiving end of all that kindness? Do we as women tend to feel more comfortable on the giving or receiving end of friendship? Do we feel comfortable asking for help from our friends when we need it? Why does it matter? Let's talk about three reasons that women may not ask for help and how it hurts us as busy moms.
Many of us live in very modern societies, and with that comes more dependence on technology and less dependence on the people around us. Do cultures that have not been as heavily influenced by technology experience the same burnout as we do, especially as moms? Let's look at two lessons that we can learn from cultures where togetherness, not tech, takes center stage.
It's time to talk about vacay!
But not a family getaway where you're pretty much doing the same tasks of motherhood and feeling the same overwhelm but in a prettier location. Can you relate?
No-- today we're going to talk about taking some time away without the kids. Can it be done? And why do we find this so hard to do as women? Let's discuss!
Today I want to spend a few minutes talking about loneliness. When we think about loneliness, we assume that its impact is only emotional, right? But the COVID pandemic showed us that the impacts of loneliness exceed just feelings of sadness. And loneliness is something that can be experienced not just in a global pandemic, but even in our everyday, BUSY, lives as moms! That’s a wild thought, right? Let’s dive in and see what the pandemic taught us about the long-term effects of being lonely, and why this can impact us even today.

The top three things I hear over and over again from patients who come to see me after already seeing a provider for their women's health concerns?
-I didn’t feel heard.
-I didn’t get my question answered.
-I’m not even sure what any of this means!
And with that, women do what any person living in an age of technology would do: they turn to the internet looking for a little reassurance and an explanation they can understand.
I hear you.
The problem with this? We’re currently in a battle of misinformation. With just a few simple clicks on your phone or laptop, you can find whatever answer looks good or makes you feel great. But is the answer legit, backed by science? Is it information that you can trust?
That’s where I come in. I’m Candice Walker. I’m a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist and I’ve been practicing for almost 20 years. I’m a wife, a mom to two beautiful girls, and I’m passionate about women’s health. Do you want to know one of my favorite parts of what I do? It’s having a one on one conversation with my patient, breaking down the issue at hand, listening to her questions and concerns, and hopefully having her leave with the answers she’s looking for AND with a little piece of mind.
If I can equip just one woman with knowledge about her body and how to care for it best, it’s a win! So throw on some fuzzy socks, grab a snack, and sit back as I break down some of the most common health topics for women in their 30's and beyond. I’m sure the next few minutes will give someone the answer she needs—simplified. Let’s go!
