“There are long-term threats to democracy, including racism, capitalism, imperialism, the inequality of wealth and income, and failing media,” says Matt Rothschild from the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. “But the short-term crisis is this new anti-democracy movement—and we need to recognize it as a mass fascist movement, and we need to do all that we can non-violently to oppose it.”

Today, he joins host Allen Ruff to talk the latest in national and state politics and the mainstreaming of anti-democracy opinions and actions by right-wing media, politicians, and voters.

Matt Rothschild is executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. He was the senior editor of The Progressive magazine from 1994 to 2014. His latest book is 12 Ways to Save Democracy in Wisconsin (University of Wisconsin Press, 2021).
