Cut Chemist joins the Antiquiet Podcast to break down his new album Die Cut, before its release on March 2nd (A Stable Sound). 

Born Lucas McFadden, Cut Chemist made his name as a founding member of Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli before releasing his groundbreaking 2006 solo debut, The Audience is Listening. He’s an OG crate junkie through and through, and helped pioneer the music scene by preserving and sharing the best old school, hip-hop, funk, and rare groove beats from around the world. 

This episode dives deep on the Die Cut album, which includes guest appearances from Biz Markie, tUnE-yArDs, the incredible Deantoni Parks and more. Deantoni’s kaleidoscopic beat blizzards had a profound impact on the record, which McFadden expands on here.

Barrett Martin is a drummer who has played on over a hundred albums and film soundtracks, and when he's not working on his own music with the Barrett Martin Group, The Walking Papers and others, he produces albums in genres ranging from indigenous music to jazz, blues, rock and beyond. He holds a masters degree in ethnology and linguistics and was a professor of music at Antioch University Seattle.
Last August, Martin released a new book, 'The Singing Earth,' chronicling his musical work on six continents, beginning with his involvement in the rising 1990s Seattle music scene. 

His insight is one from practice, not theory. He’s played most of the major cities of the Western world, and his stories range wildly - from discovering song lines and sea trails in Australia and New Zealand, to trance drumming in Central America, to Griot music in West Africa and more. He sat in with Cuban musicians as a cultural diplomat, toured with a Brazilian rock band, recorded shamanic music in the Peruvian Amazon with Shipibo shaman and singer Herlinda Agustin Fernandez, and beyond.
