Jesus Feeds the 5,000 (John 6:1-14) - If you follow Jesus long enough and far enough, eventually you are going to trespass into the impossible. The truth is that we don’t worship a God who just DID miracles, we worship a God who DOES miracles.

Jesus has a way of making things inconvenient. There seems to be a tone that Simon takes with Jesus when the preacher begins to give fishing advice to the fishermen. His responses says it all. "Master," means "you're right". "Lord," means "I'll follow you and do whatever you say".

As we remember the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's assassination, we reflect on his final speech given in a Memphis church hours earlier. "Be concerned about your brother. You may not be on strike. But either we go up together, or we go down together. Let us develop a kind of dangerous unselfishness." For a predominately white church in 2018, let us consider the insight in King's line here - are we our brother's keeper? In other words, do white Christians have a responsibility to intentionally fight racism against people of color? And if so, how much ought we risk? In this episode, we consider the implications of King's "dangerous unselfishness."

Do you ever notice how difficult it is to publicly like the thing that everyone else seems to hate? Hating is very in. We live in a rage culture were it seems like everyone is "anti" something. Sometimes that makes sense - anti-bullying, anti-drug, anti-racism - but what does it mean to be FOR something? If we're anti-racism, are we FOR diversity and cultural respect, and do our actions reflect that? Being for something is much more difficult and involved than being against something. As Arrowhead Church prepares a new campaign for missional living, we consider why it's easier to be against than far.
