Joe Forte, number 45, retired NBA/NCAA official and current NCAA Conference Carolinas coordinator of men’s basketball officials (2006-present) has the resume to give you the best learning experience possible. Forte served previously as the Big South Conference coordinator of men’s basketball officials from 2005 – 2019. As a coordinator and former official Forte has been involved with the assignment of officials, the evaluation of men’s basketball officials, summer training and recruiting programs for officials, and the development of the conference’s roster of men’s basketball officials.
Forte’s occupation as a coordinator serves him well based off of his career as a successful official! Here are some of Fortes, accomplishments throughout his career!
Only official to officiate a High School State Championship Game ( Va ), NCAA Championship game, NBA Finals Game, NBA All Star Game, and a Gold Medal Olympic Game.
Officiated 5 NCAA Final Fours (2 National Championships)
Inducted into the Brevard College Athletic Hall of Fame. 2006
Officiated the 2000 NBA All-Star Game.
Officiated the 1999 McDonald’s Championship Game in Milan, Italy
Member of the USA Olympic Basketball Committee 1990 – 1999.
Officiated ACC Final Games 1981 – 1988.
Winner of the first Inaugural 1988 Naismith Award as NCAA Official of the Year 1988
Named Smyrna, GA Citizen of the Year in 1988
Officiated 1988 Olympic Gold Medal Game. Seoul, South Korea.
Officiated the Pan American Games in Indianapolis, In 1986.
