Far from boring, compliance in an association is an essential element of our existence as an association. Malcolm Boyd has developed learning insights to help association executives fully understand and embrace their responsibilities. Malcolm also does a great job in this conversation, of demonstrating the huge economic value of associations as well as the board members, association leaders, and volunteers and the work they do to add to the economic growth of a country, even though most of that value is unacknowledged and certainly not accounted for.
Malcolm is the founder and managing trustee of Third Sector Insights, a social enterprise that focuses on shining the light into the board rooms of nonprofit and social impact organisations, and founding member of the World Institute for Governance of Non-Profit Organisations. He is the chairman of World Vision South Africa, a global Christian relief, development, and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families, and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. He is widely known by the South African SME support fraternity, especially for his role as founding CEO of NAMAC Trust.
He has a passion for excellence in the NPO sector with a particular focus on Board Leadership, Governance, and Executive Management. He lectures at Stellenbosch University Business School and presents the governance module for the NPO Management programme. In addition, he facilitates the one-day co-branded TSI/Institute of Directors South Africa’s (IoDSA) one-day programme on NPO Governance.
