Melanie Oliveiro finds out more about the culture of the beloved Astro Boy – a long-running a Japanese manga series and also the name of a young robot with superpowers. Melanie will also find out about Astro Boy: The Journey Through Time exhibition held at BLAXK by Action City a space for all things pop culture, design & art. BLAKX’s Cheong Zhaoyong will talk about Astro Boy’s enduring appeal and local toy designer & sculptor Daniel Yu will discuss his own rendition of the manga character as a jiāngshī or Chinese hopping vampire.
