Hi there! My name is Declan Grogan and I am the creator of the show “My Town”. I’m also the writter, producer, editor, director, actor whatever, I do a lot for this show and I think you’re about to hear something you’ve never heard before. But before I address that vague click bait, let me tell you a little about our show! My Town is a comedy adventure that follows our hero “Tyler Bop”, a 15 year old boy living in a small town in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula called “Whoppertin”. Tyler’s Dad owns a candle shop in the town that isn’t doing too great due to lack of tourism, so Tyler creates the very podcast you are listening to to bring tourism and save the shop. However there is a twist! Tyler can read minds. Well, not exactly read them. He can only hear people’s secrets while talking to them, but Tyler promises the audience that this minor detail will not get in the way of his esteemed travel podcast. Unfortunately, by episode three a boy goes missing and his best friend is framed for kidnapping and murdering him. The first season follows Tyler’s quest to find the boy and free his friend all while trying to sell you candles along the way, and (spoiler alert) he does so! But not without uncovering a dark secret about the town and origin of his strange power. The episode you are about to listen to is from Season 2, a year after Tyler solved the case. Due to a lack of tourism and money, Whoppertin is on the verge of economic collapse and Tyler is determined to save it. He forms a committee to raise money to keep the town afloat, but just as things are looking up, Tyler himself is kidnapped. This brings us to Episode 19: A Tale of Two Microphones. After being kidnapped, Tyler wakes up in a strange facility and may just learn that his kidnapping might be tied directly to the kidnapping that happened a summer earlier. Now to why this may be something you’ve never heard before. Tyler brought with him two high quality streaming microphones and early into the episode one is confiscated and taken away from him. The other remains in the room, so this episode attempts to tell the two stories that each microphone picks up at the same time. The audio from one microphone will be streamed to your left ear, while the audio from the other is streamed to your right, and you better believe the two stories intertwine in fun and interesting ways. It’s something no other audio drama has done to my knowledge which is why it’s considered the most groundbreaking episode our show has put out. That being said it is very story driven, so if you’re ever feeling lost don’t worry. All the characters in this episode were new to the show excluding Tyler so you aren’t supposed to know who everyone is right of the bat. Just remember Tyler can read minds and was kidnapped. Oh also, Tyler’s doctor is named Ramus Carden but that’s not that important. And hey, if you like what you hear I recommend starting from the beginning. Thank you very much, and I can’t wait to show you around My Town.
