Hi there! This is Ian Geers and Lauren Grace Thompson. We’re the creators and directors of The Vanishing Act: A Rambling Absurdity in 12 (ish) Parts. 

The basic premise of the show is this: In 1699, renowned stage magician Jean Jacquline Lemarque vanished himself and the entire audience of his magic show at his final performance at the Theatre des Tuileries in Paris. 

Meanwhile, in 1933, a grumpy German set designer, an American con man, an unfortunately named scientist, and a duck, all search for the answer to one question: how did he do it?

And, as is usual with farces, they also get a bit sidetracked along the way. 

The selection you’re about to hear is part of one of our new set of episodes, which is what we’re eligible for as a returning show--it’s from our overall tenth episode, called The Eyepatch. 

In it, we pick right up in Hollywood in 1937, where our previously-mentioned American con-man, Conrad Webley Griffson has bluffed and blustered his way into being the head writer of a new RKO film, the horrendously-titled The Glorious and Mournful Sort.

Meanwhile, across town, grumpy expat German set designer, Augie Eckhart, is in final rehearsals for his play--the culmination of his obsession with The Disappearing of the Theatre des Tuileries, a show about the disappearance called The Vanishing Act. 

At the last minute, he’s decided to add Lilith Von Hitzler, an unfortunately-named scientist who has finished her own replica of the Vanishing Box, to the cast, playing Jean-Jacquline Lemarque. She has many skills--acting is decidedly not one of them.

This is a serialized show, so we always recommend starting from the beginning, but we think this episode will get you established pretty darn well with our main eligible cast members, and the world of the show. Welcome!

Hello everyone! This is Episode 25 of Extinction Curse, our second campaign following a traveling circus unraveling the conspiracies of an underground dinosaur cult with goals that threaten the very world! In this episode, our heroes— Royari San Sarnax, a daring swordfighter, Eriato Bati, a half-demon, half-hag sorcerer and Volio Via, an aasimar-elf barbarian-witch clown with a Furby snake familiar— are finally facing off against Mistress Dusklight, a cruel catfolk ringmaster who once employed our heroes and is out for revenge by making them duel to the death in the big top. Our heroes have to save their kidnapped friend, protect their newfound paladin ally who was being manipulated by her and put an end to Dusklight's reign of terror once and for all. It's a big episode with tense scenes, huge fights and plenty of big, silly explosions, but it's also one that drives home the message of Dice Will Roll: that fantasy tales are a place where we, our characters and our listeners can be proud to be ourselves without trying to blend in with the rest of the world. This is Cat, the Game Master of Sword of Symphonies, which is about the crew of the Westbreaker exploring the peaceful post-apocalyptic world of Amylte. This is episode 8 of season 2, part of an arc we call Purity in Pearl.

The party has come to a village in the foothills called Dunbarrow, which is guarded by a Noble Demon obsessed with purity. Lately, this demon, the Ambassador in Pearl, has been acting strangely, and it’s only a matter of time until she turns on the people of Dunbarrow.

It turns out a different Noble Demon, the Ash Duke, has been corrupting things and people with his touch, including Penelope, one of the party members. If the Ambassador catches anything he has corrupted, she destroys it instantly with her cruel javelins.

Now the party is seeking out the Lady of the River’s Origin, to get her help before Penelope is caught.
