This week on The Autoholic, we sit down with Mike Sakkas from Hagerty and just talk cars.

We get into how the enthusiast market feels right now, the stuff people are excited about, the cars that still make sense, and how tastes are changing. We also touch on the NYC car scene, why it’s different, and why car culture still finds a way here.

In this episode, Stephen and Andrew connect with Deepak Dave of Autoficionados, a new car storage condominium complex in Long Island, NY for car enthusiasts to store and customize their own personal dream garage, and build a community with other car collectors. During our discussion we learn about Deepak's car-crazed family, the diverse set of cars he has owned, his love of Mercedes-Benz, and why he wanted to develop such a community and solution for car collectors in the New York City area.

In this episode, Stephen and Andrew chat with Duane Wilson (aka @porschestimmung on IG), who hosts traditional style cars and coffees in the heart of New York City. We discuss how Duane became a car enthusiast, including rides in his fathers '64 1/2 Ford Mustang, his car ownership, moving to NYC, starting these cars and coffees as a way to meet people, and finally his lead petitioning to separate NYC from the Metro Porsche Club of America chapter. Tune in to learn more about one of NYC's key figures in the car community. Stephen's good friend, Andrew Levitt, joins The Autoholic for future podcasts. In this episode we talk about Andrew's prior life working in the automotive industry running a car auction and concours. He shares some of his most memorable moments, such as selling a Ferrari F50 prototype, doing donuts in vintage Ferraris, and other things that don't involve Ferraris. Lastly, we talk about our observation that hundreds of Fisker Oceans have infiltrated NYC as Ubers, and dive into why this might have happened.

Originally recorded in 2024, Ryan and Stephen look back upon their drive across the United States in Ryan's Porsche GTS 4.0. They detail their observations of driving through various remaining states, including the roads, the scenery, and most importantly - the car.

Ryan and Stephen check-in on their progress as they attempt to drive from New York City to California in a few days in his Cayman GTS 4.0. In this episode you find us smack in the middle of Iowa on our second day of travel. Day 1 we made from NYC to Chicago in about 10 hours. On this day, our goal was to make it to somewhere in Nebraska close to the Colorado border. Stephen contributes to the conversation with a digression on his experience driving the last manual VW GTI (a Mk8) in DC.

In a return to Autoholics Anonymous, Ryan and Stephen chat with their buddy Ross to catch up on their latest automotive adventures - including chasing youths away from cars in our driveways, repairing & modifying our Porsches, but most notably a waxing of cammy cars such as a Honda S2000 in California and an early Lotus Elise.

The three of them recap their trip to Mike's new house, and the local roads of Maine.
