Mrs. Carlton is having her piano tuned when her husband arrives home. She asks if he has managed to get his partners to lend him some money to get them out of their debt. They have mad some unwise investments and the only way Mr. Carlton can see to getting out of trouble is to get a loan against his wife’s jewels. Mrs. Carlton is not prepared to let him have her jewels and in the ensuing argument Mr. Carlton is shot, but how and by whom? It is either suicide or murder.
