It is that time of the year again. I am going through practice after practice. We are gearing up for the studio showcase. That means repeating the same 2-4 minute routines until you want to rip the cords out of that stereo system.

Practice makes better, but it does NOT make perfect. Repetition makes you better at what you are doing. I get better at editing the more I do it. I get better at streaming the more I do it. Long walks take less effort each time. I'll never be perfect—and I don't wish to be.

Whatever you are doing this week, remember that you are going to be better at it than you were the first time you performed that action. If it's your first time, don't worry about messing up-just know you will get better next time you do it. Now it’s time for me to dance to another song, I love the band—just not after dancing to it 50 million times.

Instagram is testing a feature to not show how many people like a post. Frankly, I'm excited about this change. I would rather not know what others think of a particular item. I do my best to hide statistics where I can. If I obsess over them, it can take me to a low mood.

I was talking with a friend who podcasts, and they shared that they don't care about their stats. They like what they are doing, and the stats would cause them to stop podcasting potentially. I echo this sentiment; it took me about two years to get one of my shows to have what I would consider "high" numbers. In the dashboard for that show, I hide those numbers when I can.

I can hear Amanda right now telling me about how stats are a useful tool for the measurement of your content's success. I agree on that; except I wish I could hide the numbers until I'm in a mindset to think critically, not emotionally. Not at 3 am when I'm on Twitter when I can't sleep.
