  • OCD, Identity & the Bi+ Mind: Finding Certainty in Uncertainty

This week on The B-Side, hosts Marie, Bridget, and Ares sit down with Sky — a proud bi+ and nonbinary advocate — to explore the powerful intersection between Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), sexuality, and gender identity. Together, they unpack how OCD can weaponise doubt, how compulsory heteronormativity complicates self-understanding, and why so many bi+, pan, and nonbinary people are overlooked in both queer and mental-health spaces.

From Sexual Orientation OCD (SO-OCD) to Gender Identity OCD, Sky shares their lived experience of learning to live with uncertainty and rebuild self-trust. Through open conversation, the team discusses the importance of language, the danger of misdiagnosis, and the courage it takes to find authenticity in a world that demands certainty.

Key takeaway: Being bi+, pan, or nonbinary with OCD isn’t a contradiction — it’s complexity. When we make space for uncertainty, we make space for authenticity.

  • Tick(l)ing All the Boxes: Bi+ Beyond the Binary

This episode of The B-Side is all about breaking down the misconception that bisexuality is “binary.” We explore how bi+ has always included attraction beyond just “man” or “woman” — embracing non-binary, trans, intersex, and gender-diverse experiences.

From the Kinsey scale to personal stories, we talk about where we each sit on the spectrum, the many forms of attraction (romantic, emotional, platonic, aesthetic, intellectual, sensual), and why language like “bi+” is more inclusive. We also challenge stereotypes like being “half and half” and instead celebrate the full, beautiful diversity of bi+ identities.

This is an episode that truly tick(l)es all the boxes — about love, identity, and attraction beyond the binary.

  • Visible, Valid, and Unapologetic: The Fight for Bi+ Inclusion

In this episode of The B-Side, hosts Bridget and Ares are joined by two amazing guests from the Bi+ Community Perth, Marie and Safi, as they discuss the themes of Bi+ visibility, community, and the importance of inclusion. We kick off the discussion by diving straight into the heart of the conversation about the significance of Bi+ Visibility Week (16th–23rd) and why the fight against Bi erasure is so crucial.

Marie, a passionate advocate within the Bi+ Community Perth, shares her role in the group and what exciting events are coming up for Bi+ Visibility Week and beyond. Together, we explore what Bi+ visibility truly means, why it’s essential, and the challenges that come with being visible in a world that often diminishes bisexuality. We also talk about the strength and solidarity that comes from building community—examining how regular connection at Bi+ events creates a positive ripple effect. We’ll also dig into Bi erasure, discussing how this harmful process undermines bisexual identities, and how it intersects with the experiences of other marginalized groups in the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly trans, asexual, and agender individuals. Safi highlights the painful double dose of erasure that comes with being both Trans and Bi, illustrating how it feels to have your existence continually invalidated.

This episode is an honest, powerful conversation about the necessity of embracing all aspects of the Bi+ identity, and how we can build a more inclusive and visible community for everyone. Don't miss it!
