This week, to honour Rosie The Riveter Day on March 21, the girls share the little known story of the 600,000 African American women who stepped into the work force when the men went off to war. While the soldiers fought fascism overseas, the fight against racism still raged on American shores. Still in the throes of degrading Jim Crow segregation laws, these ladies earned respect for themselves, a paycheque they'd never dreamed of, and an opportunity to forge a new future for their families.
