This is a special episode of The Balance After Baby podcast as I sit down with award-winning author, director, and producer Amy Koppelman to discuss her film "A Mouthful of Air" which was adapted after her novel written over 20 years ago. Starring Amanda Seyfried and Finn Wittrock, A Mouthful of Air is one woman's journey through postpartum and motherhood struggling with resurfacing trauma, depression and anxiety. The film is heartbreaking and a reminder of how important conversations surrounding maternal mental health are.

Ask a new parent or parent to a newborn/baby what they need the most and the answer is always SLEEP! But sleep has become a hot topic with some serious fire involved.. on one side you have sleep training advocates and on the other you have co-sleeping/attachment style parenting advocates... and in the middle you have about 90% of new parents just doing what works for their household. Molly helps us break down the great sleep debate, the extremist mentality involved, and gives some tips for optimizing sleep for both you and your baby!

On this episode of The Balance After Baby podcast, I sit down with Dr. Jenna Elgin & Dr. Shanna Alvarez of Helping Families Thrive to bust some myths wide open about attachment parenting and secure attachment as well as give all of us some insight into how we can make informed decisions as parents. In the age of social media and misinformation galore, Dr. Jenna and Dr. Shanna help clear the air on a few hot topics (more like dumpster fires) with their expertise as clinical psychologists and backgrounds in research science. On this episode of The Balance After Baby podcast we're kicking ass and taking names with Nastasia Scott. Nastasia Scott is a mom of two, business owner, life coach, and former model (American's Next Top Model & Project Runway- like, seriously!) She owns an online store and brand called Cancel Snapback Culture, which is founded on the idea that women don't need to rush to bounce back to their pre-baby bodies. CSC is about knocking down society's expectations of women, leaving us free to fly and be who we want to be. CSC helps support the Shades of Blue Project which is an organization that prioritizes the mental health of black mothers who are more likely to suffer from serious complications during and after childbirth. Cancel Snapback Culture is FOR women, by women.

On this episode of The Balance After Baby podcast, I sit down with Dr. Sarah Pachtman Shetty based out of NYC. Dr. Sarah is a maternal fetal medicine physician which is an obstetrician who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Sarah has published 13 peer-reviewed medical research articles and her resume/CV can only be described as a small novel. I am so honored to have this conversation with her! As you'll hear in the episode, Dr. Sarah is passionate about all of her patients (and all people, for that matter!) making informed decisions.
As she puts it so eloquently, "I want people to come with questions and I want my patients to feel like they're involved in their care. And I'm so done with the paternalistic days of medicine where some doctor just tells you what to do and take this drug and go on with your self. I want you to go and learn and ask and know about your body."
You can find Dr. Sarah on Instagram @highrisk_pregnancy where she shines her light on important information regarding maternal health and medicine. Thank you Sarah!
