In this episode Jessie talks about how youth and teen sports have a gap between offering beginner level sports and the extreme of club sports. There is a place for all but what if your youth or teen just wants to compete and enjoy the sport without the “manufactured exclusivity” as friend and previous episode podcast guest Paul Gamble calls it.
Check out Paul’s Substack on the subject.

This episode is about having a leader’s mindset. Encouraging those that may not get as much play time and have the athletic knowledge and abilities that you do as a starter or mvp. Your team is as strong as its weakest link so why not build up every link in the chain? Varsity, JV, Freshman teams are all part of one team! Treat each other as if your success counts on everyone having confidence in their abilities!
We are in the middle of club Volleyball tryouts and it’s not going as well as my teen athlete hoped. But she is learning invaluable life lessons early that will carry her through! Take a listen to see where we are at in this seasons journey and tune in next week to see where we land. Charting new territory is scary but perseverance will get you through!!
