Who are the individuals behind the ballet productions we have the privilege of enjoying or being a part of? Join us for this week's episode with Matthew Powell, Artistic Director of BalletNova. He will be leading and directing a ballet institution recognized as one of the premier dance training centers in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Matt takes us through his diverse and impressive background as an alum of the School of American Ballet in NYC, professional dancer for San Francisco Opera, Kansas City Ballet and more. His choreographing experience launched when awarded a fellowship from the New York Choreographic Institute. In addition, his Ballet Master experience spans the globe and includes Royal New Zealand Ballet, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Slovak National, Oklahoma City Ballet, and the Golden Globe nominated limited series 'Flesh and Bone.' If you have ever thought of exploring choreography, becoming a BalletMaster, and/or Artistic Director, here is an episode for you. Glean valuable advice and hear the types of opportunities out there for one interested in a similar path as the one Matt pursued.
