The Battle of Blackouts: Stevie's Journey to Sobriety

Listen Later

In this episode of "The Battle of Blackouts," we're joined by our special guest and friend Stevie B.  from Phoenix, Arizona, with thirteen years of sobriety.  Stevie's journey through addiction is a candid exploration of her battle with alcoholism. From her early days of not fitting in and seeking comfort in alcohol to her struggles with the law, this episode dives into her harrowing experiences, including multiple DUIs, a pivotal moment with a probation officer, and the realization that alcohol was a problem she couldn't ignore.

Stevie's six-year streak of sobriety came to a heartbreaking end after the loss of a family member, a failed change of scenery, and a painful breakup. Her descent into a relapse even led to a shocking incident involving a stolen U-Haul and felony charges.

Throughout her journey, Stevie grappled with blackouts, initially believing she'd never become like those stereotypical stories of alcoholism. But as her story unfolds, we witness her relentless struggle to stay clean and sober, repeatedly falling and rising in her pursuit of recovery. Tune in to hear her inspiring tale of resilience and redemption in part 1/2 of the Soberoso Podcast episode #136
