Multi-Engine Helicopter Rating and Instrument Rating?!?
Whats this all about then?
Let's review and recap the flying in my logbook after obtaining my commercial Pilots Licence. Shall I go back to this sort of flying? Do I miss it? Was it all worth it?
In this episode, I talk about where I've been, how I made the decision to quit, and where the future lies. Is it in aviation? Is it in flying at all? Will I ever go back?
In this episode, I read an article from Sean Brown, the CEO of British European Aviation, and his flight across the world from Florida, USA to London, UK. His flight takes place in a single-engine, propeller-driven aircraft capable of speeds of 280kt TAS. Enjoy!
Hey all! Welcome to episode twelve. In this episode we discuss mental health concerning the aviation world, delving into accidents pertaining to mental health and how things such as depression can affect your medical, and moreover, can you get your medical back following a diagnosis of depression and or anxiety.
Next, we discuss pilot decision making and the different models we use to diagnose problems within our cockpits and how we go about fixing them.
Carl kindly had this to say...
So when he ran out of suitably qualified and entertaining people to interview, he kindly came to my place one evening with a shedload of microphones and cool audio kit. Had a blast recording this, with plenty of Micky being taken and humble pie to go around.
We talked about airline vs helicopter life, general aviation (or lack thereof) in a pandemic and the ‘human side’ of flying, as well as our own challenges with all of the above.
(OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER: We don’t claim to be experts on any of the subjects discussed. So beware; these are OUR opinions ONLY and not those of our employers or anyone else’s for that matter.)

Part 2 back with you!
This was such a big and hilarious episode to put together I had to spilt it up!
In this half of the show we discus the trips with our good friend Paul and we give you our first impressions on the Design4Pilots Airliner Case - I purchased this through the good people over at Pooleys so a huge shout out to them and they’ll be linked below.

So on this episode of The Bearded Pilot Podcast I am joined by a few guests. I have Martine in the studio with me and I have two very good friends on the phone ready to jump in with some great stories and discuss the aviation industry in the modern day Covid-19 2020 doomsday.
We will be chatting to Martine and getting a background into what got her into flying, her training and in my honest opinion, some of the best flying stories you'll have ever heard.
We then move on to me and whether I managed to complete the Flight Instructor Rating course & Exam after the Covid lockdown was eased…. The answer to which you will need to listen to the show! I go into detail as to what the course was like, what the exam was like & overall what its been like as an instructor. We chat about the instructional flights I’ve done to date and have I come up against any pitfalls yet?
Unfortunately a big part of the modern world in 2020 is the dreaded COVID-19 and it has had a massive impact on flying both commercially and across GA as a whole. On this section of the show, we’re joined by a great friend of mine who recently passed his PPL(H) and we discuss what it was like to fly again after all that time off, what we had to do to get current again, and how quickly our flying came back to us. On top of this I had to return to my Flight Instructor course and recontinue flying and going over some revision flights as well as theory knowledge in the classroom.
Many of you listeners love hearing about the trips that my guests have been on and in all honesty…. I love it to. In this episode I am joined by a brilliant mate of both mine and Martine. We chat to Paul over the phone about some of the trips we have taken together. The trials & tribulations of organising these trips. The most incredible fun we can have and discuss what is next for the three of us after these lockdowns. Many of you may remember Paul from the episode where we travel to Scotland and I grabbed a quick 30 second interview with Paul at a refuel stop at Manchester City Barton. Paul has some incredible stories to share as he has been around the block a few times, having flown many types of helicopters and still to this day wants nothing more than to fly every opportunity that arises.
After this, we give our first impressions on the Design4Pilots Airliner Case I hope to use and become my daily driver in bringing my A game for my students.
