The Bearly Educated Podcast

After months of conjecture, debates, arguments, fights, it has happened: The Chicago Bears select Caleb Williams with the 1st pick in the 2024 draft.

OK, so it's a foregone conclusion that the Bears are taking QB Caleb Williams with the first pick in the draft. The more intriguing question now is what they will do with the 9th pick that they also have. Draft a WR? DE? Trade down for more picks? We discuss.

We discuss news from the NFL combine, as it pertains to Caleb Williams and the Bears, as well as where this leaves Justin Fields. It seems like there is an inevitability to the team trading Fields and picking Williams with the first pick in the draft this April.

The Bears have hired Shane Waldron to be their new offensive coordinator. We discuss the hire, his performance in the same role with the Seattle Seahawks, and how this move impacts whoever is QB next year.

While the Packers were eliminated last weekend, we lament the fact that the Bears are still a ways off from "taking the north;" not to mention the Lions playing for a chance at the Super Bowl!

We also make our picks for conference championship weekend. Thanks for listening!

The Bears did make some coaching changes after the season was over, but limited to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and members of his staff. Matt Eberflus will return, which seems, to us, the wrong thing to do. We discuss.

We also make Wild Card weekend predictions. Thanks for listening!

Another year goes by, a 5th since the Bears have beaten their oldest rival, the Green Bay Packers. The Bears looked slow, unprepared, and overmatched. Jordan Love looked fantastic again, and Justin Fields did not. What changes are coming this offseason? We dicuss.

The 2023 season is almost over for the Chicago Bears. It's been a roller coaster, for sure. The Bears end their season up in Green Bay, hoping to play Spoiler for the Packers playoff hopes. Then, the offseason begins, which may be more eventful than the regular season!

For the 3rd time this season, the Bears lost a game with a double digit lead in the 4th. We spend a lot of time discussing Justin Fields, and the fact that it's time to move on. No, it's not all on him, and his teammates and coaches have certainly done him no favors (and actually hurt his development), but we have enough to weigh against having the 1st pick in the upcoming draft. We also discuss how this should put an end to the Eberflus era as well.
